The AMD Driver Thread

Sorry, bit of an obscure request but I don't suppose anyone knows of a video or article which compares the performance results of the 7x00 XT at launch (particularly 7800 XT) with results using new-est/ish drivers?
Curious to see the performance benefit of driver evolution, other than just bug fixes.
Thanks.
while not indepth anything form the big youtubers will be current ish
data I think Jay said all the cpus/gpus will be restested with a new benchmark suite after xmas, and certain the more techy channels will also do this

Hi everyone,

Not sure if I am being dim or not, but wanted to ask here. I am on the latest driver (December) and unfortunately, when the PC is locked and I turn on my screen I sometimes get flickering - I have narrowed it down to VRR.
I don't really need VRR on all of the time, I was wondering if it is possible to disable VRR for desktop use, but only enable VRR when a game is open perhaps?

Is this possible using game profiles?

Yes, disable it under the main display setting in Adrenalin then for each game profile you should set Freesync to on. It'll then be off by default, until you launch a game that you've set a profile for.

I use per-game profiles where I want freesync on or off, partly because I have an OLED monitor and some games VRR flicker is noticeable and in others it's not.

Okay but this is the weird bit, when I enable or disable VRR in adrenaline, it doesn't always do it? It can take 10 seconds to disable VRR.
I don't remember this being an issue on the .9.24 drivers, the other thing I've noticed is that in the newest driver the 'Free sync colour accuracy' toggle is missing in the newest drivers - 9.24 still has it.

Have you reinstalled Adrenalin? It's showing for me right now and I just updated to 24.12.1 at the weekend.
I have multiple times. From 9.24 it has gone. I have a Samsung Panel is that means anything, it supports free sync premium Pro.

I also used DDU to ensure that it was clean.

Is there a "best" version of the driver at the minute or should I just get the latest?

I'm on slightly older drivers and wonder if I should update because in Black Ops 6 it doesn't render the gun (at least in the benchmark) and it also gets really bad FPS (even lowering settings and enabling FSR didn't increase the framerates).

What driver you using? 24.10.1 is when official support was added for Black Ops 6. :)
