I believe there's a non specific option in Windows Update that permits it to look for later "official" drivers and update to those or at least list them, and if users don't read what's being update, that could update your driver unintentionally when they click on update. Power users normally refuse such control and likely won't run into the same issue.I've used Win 10 Pro and now Win 11 Pro. Never had MS interfere with my drivers. And I don't recall fiddling to have to enforce that. Just installed Windows, then install drivers (Mobo, GPU, etc). Job done. It is a strange one for sure when people say it happens to them.
