The AMD Driver Thread

sorry for asking again and admittedly I haven't tried a different monitor yet

but has anyone had any issues with Virtual Super Resolution and the 9070XT with Windows 11 please ?

1080p monitor, but with my previous 3060ti I had better results with games 1440p downscaled than I had using TAA etc.

No matter what I do my 9070XT does not allow VSR to work, I can't set a desktop resolution higher than 1080p nor can I set higher than 1080p in games

I have VSR on and GPU scaling on (tested off too) - nothing works

I've just re-performed a complete DDU in safe mode - reinstalled AMD drivers and still doesn't work

my upstairs PC with a R290 and an ancient monitor it works just fine can set a desktop resolution to 2560x1440 no issues at all

3 differences:

Windows 11 machine vs 10
9070xt vs R290
Gaming PC connected via an AV amp - R290 connected directly

it has been suggested to try bypassing av amp but even if worked (I can't see how it would make a difference) - I would't be able to use and surely this is a configuration lots of people use

when I look at the "default display" in windows it lists all the modes my monitor can display and is correct so it is obviously reading the "TV" rather than the "AV Amp"

bit frustrating. I could try a complete Windows 11 re-install but that would be a right faff

I've tried from the 9070xt - HDMI to HDMI and Display Port to HDMI no differences
@AMD_Vik

Any chance you can look into this for @Buckster :)

I'm having problems with Bezel compensation.

I use 3 - 1920x1080 monitors
This is 5760x1080 resolution, but I always used 5840x1080 with bezel compensation, my last AMD card was a Fury Nano and it work perfectly, have been using Nvidia cards since then and bezel compensation always worked.

Now I moved back to AMD with a RX 9070 XT, I'm trying to setup the bezel compensation without success.
On the drivers utilities there is no option for that, but there is an app in AMD folder:
C:\Program Files\AMD\CNext\CNext
EyefinityPro

That would fix that, but the only resolution it gives me is 6336 x 1080

any ideas?

sorry which display model is this?
Who we're you asking? if it was my post Samsung odyssey Neo G7 although reading around online it's not the only monitor or monitor brand that has this issue HDR is really dark if i leave Freesync premium pro enabled on my 7900gre from reading around online i think it's the same for all rx6000-7000series GPU's on quite a few different Freesync Premium pro monitors... But I was testing my old Vega 64 and noticed HDR and Freesync work together perfectly fine on that GPU.

Can you two give us the display models in use here?

YOu should now be able to select your custom letterbox in game/may/not have to select res in windows before launching, last time I done it was on my 79XTX, let us know if it works-good luck!:)
Didn't work, but i think it's because my monitor is DSC

Alright… I’m going to be that guy for a moment. Dons flame‑proof jacket… deep breath…

What is it with these wild multi‑monitor setups? Can people not just use a single monitor like "normal" people? (And by "normal" I obviously mean me, sitting here with my humble lone screen) :p

It just seems like every monitor‑related question or issue comes from someone running some funky resolution, a TV, or a mad multi‑screen spaceship‑cockpit arrangement.

This isn’t aimed at anyone in particular - just a general observation from the pattern I keep seeing whenever "monitor shenanigans" pop up.

Right… I’m officially doomed now so in the immortal words of Hudson from Aliens,

"Game over, man! Game over!"

idk man, let people do what they want.

yeah some displays kinda suck, some vendors have outright ignored VESA spec compliance in the past (some still do) but we can try and make it all work. some specific product lines are so flagrantly problematic, yet it's hard as an end user to stay on top of that sort of information before making a purchase.

i'm probably not the right person to suggest what a typical system looks like, our optional telemetry suggests multi-monitor configs are fairly popular, however. FWIW, I use two different display models from the same vendor and things seem to be totally fine.

for some uses having multiple screens makes a massive difference.
I couldnt go b ack to a single monitor ive tried and my ability to do stuff ground to a halt almost lol

Been running 3x 27 inch 1080p displays at 1440p/144Hz using VSR for the past few hours, playing DayZ and some GTA 5. Runs really well and even clocks still drop into double figures when idle.

I'll never go back to a single monitor, makes no sense to me if you game and use other apps like Discord, OBS etc.. or Dj online like I do sometimes. I want that full screen experience and still see whats going on with other running apps without having to keep minimizing windows.

I think the trick to get multiple displays running well is to use same resolutions and refresh rates, I have 4x AOC 1080p displays (3 are 144Hz and 1 is 165Hz that has the option to do 144Hz) so it all syncs up.

Hopefully getting a native 1440p OLED display this year but the testing was to make sure I can use VSR for the other displays so that they dont do that thing where the screens go black for a second or two when minimizing/maximizing full screen apps.

In my experience Nvidia are pretty poor with the multi setups, since coming back to AMD its all instant, no waiting, no black screen or anything.

Still getting over 200fps at 1440p in DayZ so I think its time to up my resolution. Btw GTA V was running well with Frame Gen 'FSR 3', is this really FSR 4 with my 9070? It looked so good while still getting 200+fps.

Still using driver 25.9.1 as all drivers after this give me that texture corruption on avatars in Second Life. @AMD_Vik any news on a fix for this or is this on Linden Lab to fix?

Cheers.

PS. A Twitch Adblock extension that I use in Chrome is blocking these forum threads for me

OpenGL have promited a fix to staging, should meet the 25.30 branch drivers, so hopefully the next release.

I don't suppose you're allowed to tell us which vendors still ignore the VESA specs are you?

wouldn't be very diplomatic of me. The key offenders for back then behave a bit better now.

it was interesting to learn that OEMs weren't supposed to ship FW updates after reaching FreeSync certification for those displays. This caused a great deal of issues in the field and was a prevalent issue across a variety different vendors.

does anyone get artifacts in BF6 on occasion I see pink , white flashes ? :) never happend on my 3070

Anyone else get rendering errors on desktop say you have discord open which i think is linked but has hw graphics off in it, but edge say has it on but might not be related. Anyhow windows like edge or say amd adrenaline window might show rendering issues where a frame of a winodw is showing when it shouldnt and you cant shift it, tho i think going from fullscreen to windowed mode helps a bit but still iffy. Or if your on say a heavy media web page and some parts of the screen is stuck and not drawn the same as the rest of the screen so it looks like parts of ui on webpages might appear frozen for a few secs.

Its been bugging me for awhile and through some different drivers for a bit now. Not sure if its a user issue or a driver issue somehow. I usually keep everything upto date tho, drivers, windows, etc. And mostly always DDU when changing drivers. Using a 6700xt on latest win 11 and latest drivers.

It sounds a bit like what this is explaining.

Related?

Could it be tied to MPO and freesync or something like that. Should i disable MPO, tho i duno if the old method still works or worth trying these days, is it?

I occasionally see white in certain maps.

If I run something far more graphically intensive then nothing, so putting it down to game engine/driver thing.

BF6 isn’t graphically demanding and I don’t run it on highest graphical settings anyway.

Didn't work, but i think it's because my monitor is DSC
I run custom res for a projector, and through the AVR to give 21:9
It's often a massive pain to get the custom setting to save, and any update to the adrenalin software risks breaking the custom res - to the point I am reluctant to update drivers!

Anyway, what part "doesnt work" for you?
are you able to create the custom res and see it in adrenalin? are you able to select it in windows? etc etc.
One common issue I have is that the pixel clock seems to cause issues saving the resolution in adrealin - but i always seem to manage it eventually!
