The AMD Driver Thread

The way AMD have been handling things of late, drivers for Project Cars should be with us in 6 months...

Have been looking forward to the 390x but with each passing month brings disappointment with AMDs failings to meet expectations.

Might end up giving the 390x a miss to see how things pan out.

amd needs to change their NDA slightly.

NDA for driver releases is a ridiculous, I can understand it for new hardware but for software to support their current Customer/hardware base it's just a joke!

It's just a way to be lazy and not keep Customers informed.

The last "official/non-beta" driver update was on the 12/9/2014

Agreed completely unacceptable.

I posted this a number of times but why don't ATI move back to CAPs?

That Microsoft hasn't gone over and gave a WHQL sticker to the driver (which is all there's to it, but it takes time to get done - which means delaying the release of said driver) is important in what way exactly?

Because if all you do is constantly produce "BETA" drivers it gives AMD a "get out of free card" if there are any issues... "It's just a beta driver after all"

Well there must be a reason for Microsoft delaying it because before that driver update, we had an "official/non-beta" driver update EVERY month and if not every month, the max wait was 2 months.....

In fact, have AMD even submitted a driver for them to "certify" since 14.12? As the impression that I get from Matt/AMD is that until the driver is "perfect" with zero bugs, AMD won't be releasing a final/official driver.

Nvidia seem to get WHQL on theres, Are you saying Microsoft are just delaying doing AMD's since 12/9/2014 ?

To me it doesnt really matter a lot i use beta's anyway from both vendors but some wont use beta drivers and thats fair enough they are Beta for a reason
I dont see why AMD couldn't get one from this year approved at least for such users

Frustrating to see AMD like this. They are just forcing people that want to stay with them to go to the competition. They need to work harder on drivers and communicate much better with customers in my opinion.

That said, on most occasions I tend to wait a while after a game is out before I buy it. It usually means I get the game at half or less the launch price with good drivers and less bugs.

I do hope they get Witcher 3 drivers out soon though. That is a game I may have to buy and play on launch I think :p

I think they should release driver when Witcher 3 is out,for many people this game is as important and big as GTA 5 for others.
Think positive guys:)

So much more important than GTA 5 for me. The only other game I am looking forward to a lot more than Witcher 3 is Deus Ex Mankind Divided :D

Heads up fellow AMD users, to cheer you up, I have some free steam keys I am giving away in the PC Code giveaway section. Sure they are not triple A games, but never know, may bag something you fancy having a go on.

Its alright saying you have had a crossfire profile for Project Cars since 14.12 but it isn't working at least for me...Im getting negative scaling and that isn't good enough either way. Its not a hardware issue as all the other new games with new profiles work fine now but with Project Cars im getting worse FPS with crossfire than in single card mode.
Im not usually one to moan at these things because I usually have the patience to wait for a updated crossfire profile but im a huge racing game fan and this was one of my most anticipated games this year so im just disappointed I can't use both cards. Roy isn't talking about crossfire only single card performance so that doesn't mean much to me for this issue.

CrossFireX FreeSync is definitly going to be the BOMB. I think this is certainly something worth waiting patiently for.

Any game out now that you are currently using CrossFireX that runs right up to the V-Sync ceiling be it 60 / 120 / 144 etc will undoubhtedly be some sickenly sweet eye-candy, especially when all the settings & dials are turned right up to 11

AMD are doing good things, I BELIEVE!!

Ran 4K windowed, no stutter at all Raven. Tested on a 285 which is very similar to a 7950.
.

Thanks, speedfan was causing some issues when running with afterburner, all good now.

How about AMD let s customize resolution and refresh rates in the drivers? It's a pia not being able to easly get the 90hz that my monitor can do with AMD yet I can do it with Intel and Nvidia drivers.
