The AMD Driver Thread

Exactly what I'm nervous about haha. Supposedly the game has good resource management utilizing multiple cores. If this game uses my gpus like the witcher 2 does then I will be cartwheeling!

The Witcher 2 for me ran like crap. Even with my new CPU it still does, just to a lesser degree. :p

Multi-GPU on it seems to be rather crappy.

He isn't using any onscreen apps, many of which will break xfire.

Using the bfbc2 profile lets you get away with using apps. It's not perfect, but it works pretty well.

Thanks Petey.

Will give that a bash tomorrow.

Where amd and I are concerned, I'm close to calling it a day.

If there is no elite crossfire in th next two drivers, or any two of the next three games I try has crossfire problems, it back to nvidia for good.

Of course, saying the next two drivers , could mean end of year at their current rate... And next three games.... Well, I don't have oodles of time, so could be a bit too.

And to be fair, I won't count early access games.

Damn, hate to hear that. All three of my 290s get 90+ % usage on average. I crank everything up at 1440p and it's quite glorius :D Very very smooth. Now remembering back when I had multiple 7970's it wasn't quite like this.

I have the GPU grunt, i'm thinking it may be due to my 3GB of VRAM. Although when i checked it wasn't anywhere near to maxing the VRAM. Each card was on about 2GB usage.

The recent silence from AMD regarding crossfire profiles has me worried though.

More than 2 weeks late and the Freesync Crossfire driver *still* not ready!??? Holy ****!!

Makes you wonder if getting it working is a viable option....

Does need to hurry up, but tbh am happy to wait little longer if it means it working better than rushing it out.. Single GPU is perfectly fine for me with FreeSync..

The way things are going and have gone these last 6 months with AMD, I'm just about to jump ship I think even with owning a freesync monitor. It all depends on how the 390x is launched and how they go about looking after their customers in that time frame. But, I've just about had enough with the company, its pretty much sunk and doesn't instil me with any confidence any more. I'm currently using the screen without freesync due to crossfire and my cards and its incredible without it....so jumping to Nvidia is no biggie, will just get a couple 980tis and run it at 144fps.

You and me both Tony! I am hoping the 980ti's drop the price of the 980 by a decent bit.....

So then:

- is this going to be another "beta" driver or actually a final version or is the driver still not perfect enough for WHQL?
- funny how the driver arrives on the day of witcher 3 release... does this mean, we only get driver updates for big game releases now?

I'm fully expecting this at 23:55 on Monday: "We regret to inform you that our driver containing the Witcher 3 Crossfire Profile has been delayed".

:D

TBH, I bet you we will get a response saying something along the lines of

"sorry but after much testing, we have decided that the driver isn't ready yet and we will have to delay this until we feel that the driver is top quality and nothing but the best for our customers"

This is all he sees lately .... LOL
