The AMD Driver Thread

Just an update for Matt regarding GTA V tearing.

I had a day off today so managed to get a few hours in GTA V online with V-Sync enabled. The game ran great for 3 hours, no tearing. I then got dropped out of an online session and when I rejoined I got the tearing within about 10 minutes of gameplay. Temps remained all sub 70c.

Regarding mantle on Hardline, I tried it at a LAN and I still got the tearing.

I just managed to repro it on GTA V using my own 7990 and i captured video footage of it so I'll make sure we look at it. :)

Tried different dp cables? They can be fickle things even to the extent of one working on one card but not another.

right fitted new fans to the NZXT brackets, swapped the cards around and tried a brand new DP cable and its not gone off once yet.

On a plus note firestrike VRM temps have dropped 10c

Been looking at getting a Freesync monitor next week possibly and was wondering if the 280X is compatible for the gaming side of things. Had a look on the website and it doesn't seem to be unless a driver has allowed this to happen?

Nope sorry, The onboard chip the 280x isn't supported.. Only the later GPUs have the updated chip.

Am I right in saying the new beta doesn't include a fix for the appalling pcars performance Matt?
I wasn't on the pcars beta but have heard old amd drivers worked fine,if so I can't understand after a week why a fix hasn't been possible?

I was just reading the Release Notes for the AMD Beta drivers.
I notice they refer to a game called "Mortal Combat X".
Is this an actual game or is AMD just so down with the gamers that they haven't learnt the title of one of the biggest fighting games franchises after 10 iterations?

:D

Select not to auto download and install updates, or right click and select hide this update..

Sorted..

Edit
Guys over on Guru3D seem to be having them work fine.. They even need changed to run on Windows 8.1

I don't think this is an option on W10 as it stands.

The latest 8.1 Beta Drivers work flawlessly, it's just the crap that AMD keeps putting on the updater, it's horrendously broken. I imagine you're not using W10?

These things happen when using an early build OS... If its not something you enjoying I guess you can always go back to stable windows 8.1

Part and parcel of Beta testing!

It's not the OS that's the fault, it's the crap AMD are releasing that is! I'm not testing AMD's broken drivers!
I don't even know why I read anything you say, it's always pro AMD rhetoric.
