The AMD Driver Thread

really.

google it there are thousands of posts about micro stutter in gta V.

So i just googled and both NV and AMD users are saying it, but the examples shown are not micro stutter, they are hitching and mini pauses due to texture, shadow and scene loading which is down to the game which also likes to use the pagefile.

I was playing with a group in a heists and one guy joined the being in his car was laggy, he was complaining about his fps drops no matter how low the settings, i told him that the game will use the page file with his 8GB of ram so he the page file to 16GB, hey presto problem solved.

Ram usage was only at 70% with pagefile urned off.

I have 32GB of ram, it barely uses 8GB and it still uses the page file because the games was made with the consoles in mind, its shifting stuff out of Vram to the pagefile which it would have been better if it shifted it to System ram as a priority depending on how much you have, but seeing at the consoles have unified memory and they did not totally re write that part for the PC that's not an option, turning off the pagefile and only having 8GB of ram was really asking for issues, having 8GB cards saved you some what.

No microstutter in GTA V? Lol.

Single card, 100% utilisation, two cards, no VSYNC...I get this. Take one guess where the frame stutters happen tend to happen...

(Screenshot-ception, a friend and I were whatsapping how bad it was :))

R9 290x Crossfire. Biggest waste of money, ever. Hoorah :)

I used to have similar problems with GPU usage tanking causing stutter (2x HD7850). I found it was happening roughly every 10mins.

The fix was to uninstall the Gaming Evolved client, even though I'd turned the game DVR feature off anyway. It was running some task every 10 mins which didn't affect the PC when a single card was in use, but caused massive stutter in crossfire.

The Gaming Evolved Client was causing Black Screens when in the CryEngine SandBox Editor.

Disabled it and no more Black Screens.

Something not right with it, best not use it

I haven't seen any microstutter in GTA V at all. I initially had poor frame rates, but once I'd disabled all the settings under Advanced Graphics (running at 5760x1080, I may have been a tad optimistic to initially set them all to max!) it's been smooth since then. In town, I sit at 60FPS constantly, but driving around the north through the grass it does drop to 50FPS but it's never stuttery. Just quickly fired it up GTA for a few minutes and had a quick police chase off road round the trailer parks and this is my AB readout (obviously this is only a couple of minute blast, but the performance stays the same after hours playing too):

What resolution and settings are you running the game on, how much RAM + Pagefile do you have, and is your Pagefile on a HDD or an SSD? Wondering if we can help diagnose the reason for your stutter and help resolve it, as the drivers don't appear to be the issue or everyone would be stuttering.
