The AMD Driver Thread

Yeah, using that same driver version on W7. Roughly 20% better drawcall performance compared to 15.5. And W7 is forced to use WDDM 1.1. So losing that extra performance from W10. Awesome drivers.

got a linky. What are you using to test draw calls in w7? Will these work on win8.1 as well? Never mind - just goggled it. Hopefully an official version will come out on 16th, i like the idea of better draw calls, i might be able to turn up the distance in gta v and get rid of some pop ins, and it might smooth out bf4 in dx11

Only one reliable method to test drawcalls, 3dmark api benchmark.

Confused. Isn't that test in win10 only though? How do you know it's still better in win7?

Can we have please eyefinity group support for dirt rally? I'm sick of not being able to play at 4k Half/Half MST. Every other game supports 4k on tvs.....

Are you saying you have an MST 4K and you can’t run dirt rally?

3dmark api test works on all windows, it's just dx12 test that needs w10.

It's modded driver. Modder replaced/forced wddm 2.0 support with 1.1 and 1.3 for win 7 and 8.1. You still get benefits from newer version of d3d driver which contain performance improvements on overhead. (And who knows what else)

On win7 my drawcall perfromance in 3dmark api raised from 950k to 1180k. So very noticeable difference. And you feel them in games aswell (even on my 7970 you get occasional cpu bound situations).

Just read through guru3d driver forum. Tons of benchmarks in various games there.

There are 3dmark api tests with various of drivers under win 8.1

That's brilliant mate. Very helpful.

Well I dont know what you did Matt regards the linux driver guys but damn! What a improvement first driver since the 14.12's turned up on the 6th.

metro redux has gone from 30ish to 120
BL2 from 70 to 140+
Dying light which if you see my screenshot in a previous post was unplayable at 13fps on low at 1280 x 1024 (iirc) to a now 50ish fps @ 1440p all high :eek::eek::eek:

Admit not were windows version is but ....

Seriously what did you do????

I'm still looking for the catch.

Hey Matt, might be a slightly trickier one, but I could not for the life of me get Ass Creed IV: Pirates of the Caribbean Edition to work in 5760x1080p using 290x crossfire. Even when I use Flawless Widescreen or Widescreen Fixer and select that resolution in the game settings it still only loaded the middle screen, the two side screens going black.

Not sure what's going on there, since I've seen videos of the game running in eyefinity with crossfire settings.

Just doing my job Pete. You may of thought all this time i was just ignoring your requests/questions, but i was making sure they were heard - where it counts. ;)

Thats some crazy performance boost.. Well done AMD!

Will look into it.

15.5 are weird drivers.

TW Arena with CF off. Avg FPS (all max) at 2560x1440 around 45-50.
With Rome 2 profile (as advised by CA) mid 70s.
Experimenting with Attila profile (in TW Arena), 120-130!!!!! but some of the icon backgrounds are missing (reported that on TW Arena forums).

Seems I will download Rome 2 again and see if the Attila profile has more benefits on that game!

Still cannot get Armored Warfare CF to work, regardless if selected Ryse or Crysis 3.
Anyone knows other recent games on the latest cryengine?

Blimey, positive comments on an AMD driver, are you sure you're in the right forum? ;)

Metro Redux? did Metro LL get a performance boost?

Matt, are there any plans to revisit Cryengine? there is a hell of a lot of your tech in it.

Dynamic shadow mapping has a very high Draw Call and its killing performance, this is from just one light source.

If i turn on every Z-Pass Shadow that i want performance is on the floor :(

Even if you can't do much with that, Cryengine is a great engine that your lot had a big hand in it, go and visit your old friend :)
