Yep just like Win8.1 with WDDM 1.3 is better than Win7 with WDDM 1.1. Though the difference is even bigger in performance. WDDM 2.0 looks to be bringing nice performance upgrades + other important features.

My guess is these will be out for us 290 users after all the reviews are done. Amd need to show there new cards in the best light possible so when that's done we will receive the goods.

Try the modded 1040 or 15.15 drivers over at guru3d.

I swapped from 1040 to 15.15 this morning and I think Project CARS is at least the same performance, if not better.

Would this be overall performance or just some specific games? I'm a cynical scumbag so I pretty much don't play any of the new titles.

Dont know, certainly all the recent big games seem to get a boost. Wicther the most. It cant hurt trying them

Hmm, last time i tried a modded driver i had Windows 7 telling me to type in my license key again. I've made a system restore point so maybe i'll give these a try in a minute. Is there VSR options for 7xxx series in these too?

Modded 15.15s for Windows 8.1 are pretty good, at least on a par with the 1040 drivers (which were the pCARS champions).

I don't own the game yet because it runs like crap on AMD, but I am doubtful that the 15.15s are this good:

no, new drivers only gets the 290x to around 60 fps.

However, AMD say windows 10 and driectx 12 will giave another 40% which will finally get it on par with the top end Nvidia cards

Yeah I have 3 x R9 290x's in Tri-Fire...spent hard earned money on these cards and the driver support on the cards is shocking tbh. I've bought AMD Gpu's for over 10 yrs and feel so let down.

So you are suggesting the 290X and the 295X2 do not better than 50.4 and 68 fps respectively, with the 15.15s?

Where are the specifics about how those benchmark scores were taken?
PC specs?
What "visual" and "performance" settings?
Driving alone, "x" number of AI, number of online opponents?
Weather conditions?
Actual racing benchmark, or a replay that does not use the 600Hz CPU intensive physics?
etc. etc.

Showing numbers on a chart without specifics is a meaningless chart that can distort comparisons.
