The AMD Driver Thread

Installed the 15.15's with my 7950.. VSR is there now but i only see it go up to 1440p, runs GTA V fine and stays at 60fps with all High settings and Textures @ Very High if i turn off AA and still looks good with no jaggys really noticed on my 23 inch 1080p monitor.

Will test more later.

Not sure whats going on when i fire up a game with VSR set at 1440p but anything like Steam or my browser on my second monitor seems to move position when in full screen game on main monitor

Edit.. Maybe the extra pixels on monitor 1 are pushing everything to the right in monitor 2? Thats the only thing i can think of :)

Oh they resize after, but when i need the DayZ map up on my second monitor its going to go off the edge of the screen while in-game.

Ok these modded drivers are pants for my setup, they're not playing well with VLC player, long pauses n freezes on playback.

Going back to 15.4 Beta.. which were running perfectly for me.

(15.5 Beta gave me pretty bad stuttering while driving fast in GTA V)

Yeah I have 3 x R9 290x's in Tri-Fire...spent hard earned money on these cards and the driver support on the cards is shocking tbh. I've bought AMD Gpu's for over 10 yrs and feel so let down.

I was thinking when they didn't arrive in April like they said, you watch, i bet they hold them back until they launch their new cards, just like they held back their Xfire profiles that were getting screamed for for all those months, until those new monitors got released.

If uyou read the thread on guru3d with the modded inf drivers u need to cope a few dlls across to fix video playback.

I can live with doing that :)

Ah well, i guess i'll just wait for AMD's official Betas.. or whatever they will be cuz im back on 15.4 now.

:) That'll teach me for not reading the forum where they came from, i used to be over at Guru3D a lot too lol

Yeah its a pain but i read the whole thread before installing them in case of issues. :)

I wish AMD would get them released as none beta for 200 series cards. I am guessing it will coincide with windows 10.

Since that gives them a massive performance boost anyway plus these tweaks you can expect to see over a 50% fps gain in some games

I moved to 15.5 and its trashed my performance!!
Going back to 14. As my lowly g3258 R9 270x played GTA v and Elite quite happily at 1080p. Used the catalyst optimisation and quality dropped and it was stutter city.
Well peeved!

:D I took the time to install them properly and all is good with VLC now, it was probably quicker to just do what i did than to read all of the thread anyway lol

The perf gains u talk about, is that just the 200 series or does this apply to 7xxx cards too?

It should apply to 7xxx cards as well as same family.

Cheers :) I was just reading the footnotes on an email i had from AMD and i came across this..

8. OpenGL® 4.5 support available in AMD Catalyst™ 15.30 WHQL driver.

So maybe theres an upcoming WHQL driver, were on 15.15/15.20 atm right?

Yeah ive seen a few things about some tasty bits in 15.30 WHQL.

Basically there are 15.15 WHQL which are out now for the 300 and fury cards.

Everybody is getting 15.20 WHQL windows 10 drivers which i will assume will be July to coincide with WIndows 10.

However, there is so much ref to 15.30 WHQL drivers that you would imagine there would be out very quickly too.

Tried to install the modded 15.15s on my 7990 but no VSR option and constant hitching for 2-3 seconds in W3 so rolled back to 15.5 beta.

Something weird with these 15.20 drivers, when i run the WEI in Windows im only getting 2.9 for Desktop performance for Windows Aero.

Whats up with that?
