The AMD Driver Thread

And when AMD do a fix for the latest driver they take the last one down on their site.

No they do not because the fix is for the specific driver and they would not removed the old one when the old drivers are still available and has i have said it there has never been such a fix before.

Yes there has(read thread) and we're waiting for the fix for these BETA drivers ;)

But amd are to busy fixing the pump issues on the fury x and doing drivers for their rebranded cards to worry about us.

I'll leave you to it fanboy.

they just missing matt :(
*hugs*

TBH I find it completely something silly to cry over.. Sorry if its harsh but black bars around a screen worth crying over?

If it was my son I would explain the reason why they is a black bar around the screen and then show him how to fix it!

@Dad
Instead spitting his dummy out! I have heard it all, am Changing my GPU because my HDMI has black bar around screen lol

Am sure if he fully understood the reason why AMD do this on the HDMI port he would appreciate the fact they allow the change.
He is autistic he gets upset easily it's one of the traits. ( I think you under estimate his age he still at primary school.)

I wasn't changing a gpu because of this I upgraded mine before this happened which is how my son was getting my old gpu as an upgrade in the first place.

anyway no excuse overscan sucks if amd wanted to they could have the drivers read the monitor settings and determine it's fully compatible and not need the overscan and set it properly so there's no black bar.

it's not hard the drivers already do things far more complicated than reading a simple setting from a monitor or it's driver, maybe just the windows screen resolution and refresh rate to determine this his monitor was already 1920x1080@60hz after the reboot just with black borders

anyway point still stands probably loads of non tech savvy people playing with a black border :P

It's 2015 we should expect a graphics card to be plug and play pretty much

there could be a simple popup after the reboot with if you have a black border click here to adjust the overscan slider ,if not click here to continue, just make it more user friendly

Yeah i agree, it seems to be one of these silly little oversights that should not be there.

:( Didn't mean anything bad about crying.. Sorry if it seemed that way.

While I do agree AMD could make a popup like how they do with Crossfire or Freesync so maybe something AMDMATT can pass onto driver team?

But I still standby what I say that the Overscan is a feature that is very good to have in its own right. I used to own a TV that had no scaling option, when I used an onboard GPU the screen wouldn't fit all the TV. When I got back into PC gaming I used this TV with my newly built rig with AMD GPU and was very happy I could now set the screen to fit full screen and not miss anything off..

I guess until you been in a situation where overscan has a effected you, its easy to miss and ignore why this exist in the driver.

By the way this only happens on HDMI, so far DP, and DVI have fitted perfectly fine, the option isn't even in the driver when you don't use HDMI.

no it's fine, I know his reaction was ridiculous it's just how he is.

It wasn't a rant because he cried, I was just pointing out how annoying it can be and must be for people who don't know much about computers.

it just feels outdated like back when you had to manually assign irql in your motherboards bios back in the 90s.

now windows sorts it for you

I'm not here as some kind of nvidia fan boy.

I started with my first pc about 16 years ago, I think in that time I've only had 3 nvidia gpus my last one being a 460gtx

The only reason I really went Nvidia this time was because I don't like how hot and noisy amd cards are.

my 280x was like a hairdryer and it was the asus one that was supposed to be quiet, before that one I had a 280x windforce that was so noisy I decided to RMA it for the asus after one day
all the furyx cards seem to have noisy pumps at the minute according to what I read because the pump runs at full speed the whole time?

I would have just gone with a fury X if I could guarantee it would have been quiet
