The AMD Driver Thread

Matt, Joe or anyone need some help. Pulling my hair out here this afternoon.

I cant seem to get Freesync working on my BenQ screen. I bought two MSI Gaming 390 cards which arrived today to get Freesync goodness, but for some reason, in my CCC there is NO option to enable or disable Freesync. I've been told it's found on the "My Digital Flat Panels>Properties and then it should be right down the bottom. I have nothing there or anywhere regarding Freesync, Ive removed and reinstalled 15.7 drivers, I'm just using 1 card in my system just incase its the crossfire causing issues, but nothing. I dont get any message flash up regarding Freesync at all when it detects the screen.

Any ideas? I've tried multiple DP cables but nothing.

Very strange one, only thing I can say is maybe try running DDU is you not already to completely remove the driver and try.

yep done all that Shanks.

EDIT: cant install anything older than 15.7 as 390 are not supported in those earlier driver packages.

Oh the joys.

Am confused mate it seems you tried everything I would have done :(

Edit
Black screen on driver removal I get that if igpu on Intel cpu is enabled.. Windows will switch to that for display.

GET IN!!!!!! FOUND IT.

Looks like one of my 390s is faulty. One of them it picks up the Freesync, and the other it doesnt. Will speak to OCUK in the morning to see what they say.

Matt for benchmarks should I be disabling freesync, frame pacing etc?

FreeSync should have no noticeable performance hit. In fact, in our lab testing it usually increases fps marginally, if anything. I'd leave it on.

Frame pacing on for 24/7, off for benching.

Texture filtering quality standard for 24/7, and either standard or performance for benching.

Most of our optimisations are done on standard, but performance can sometimes offer a 0.5-1FPS or so increase.

MAtt question.

With crossfire Freesync now enabled and working beautifully I must add, is it right for my core clocks on my GPU's to be jumping around all over the place?

What GPU's are you using Tony? What games is this happening in? At what settings? Using how much video memory?

15.7 has been terrible for me. Problem after problem. Sony Vegas crashes when I click on the render option. Im sure its the driver as when I revert back to an older driver its fine. And what's the removal of VCE support? Cant capture video using Afterburner any more. Cant capture video using dxtory any more as OpenEncodeVFW does not show up using 17.5 driver. All these issues dont occur on previous driver

No problem here mate, been using GPU on Vegas lately and using VCE also jumping between msi afterburner and raptr..

Ever since I got my 290 if I let me computer turn my monitor off, when ever I wake it all I get is a black screen.

I tried all different drivers, stock speeds + voltages, Stock speeds+ increased voltages, Downclocked and my current OC settings and its all the same.

My card has Hynix memory as I know the elipda stuff had a bad rep.

Does anyone else do this with either success or total failure like me? I dont know what else it could be.
