The AMD Driver Thread

Hey, no point starting a new thread I thought.

I'm having a lot of issues with my graphics card, it's a Radeon R9 270x. I've recently upgraded to this driver:

And I am having no end of issues. I get the "Screen display adapter stopped responding" regularly. When playing the odd game, watching an mkv, hell even watching some videos on youtube.

Any ideas of what I can do? I have looked through eventvwr to see if anything stands out when its happening and nothing does.

Fair point, and I wasn't posting to try to put the blame solely at AMD's door - I've already reported the issues to Creative too and will report to NZXT later today. However, as each of these programs ran perfectly with ULPS in Windows 8.1, my gut feel is that the best chance of a fix for it is going to come from AMD as they seem to be one of the few companies that actually listen to their customers and release regular fixes and updates.

The Logitech One I have had since Windows 7 and 8.1 when enabling that setting..

Hey,

Recently switched over to the red team (R9 380) after being a long-time nVidiot :p

Just wondering if you guys habitually update to the latest Catalyst drivers every month, or only do so when there's necessary performance improvements and bugfixes?

Cheers,

Su

Are you using windows 10?

I only update when i feel it may benefit me ie performance drivers or game fixes that i need. I mainly stick with what i have if everything is running good. I see no point of updating just for the sake of it.

I've come to the conclusion that ULPS on Windows 10 is currently pretty fragile. Just from what I have installed, any one of the following will cause the second GPU to wake up and stay that way until that program is closed:

  • Creative SoundBlaster Control Panel
  • Logitech Gaming Software (with enable enhanced graphics on, ULPS is OK if this option is turned off)
  • NZXT CAM

You can add Skype and Spotify to that list too.

I usually update as soon as I'm aware of the new drivers, and I can only think of one particular release of drivers which was giving me problems (roughly around a year ago). Installing the older ones and waiting for the next release easily solved it.

Just tried to install the 15.8 driver but it gets part way through and turns the display off and i need to reset the pc:mad:

Crossfire enabled?

[425417] Windows 10 driver installation may halt on some systems with an AMD 990FX chipset and AMD CrossFire™ enabled
As a temporary workaround, please uninstall the existing driver before installing the AMD Catalyst™ 15.8 Beta driver
