The AMD Driver Thread

At what point in 2016 should I be expecting an Attila: Total War Crossfire driver?

Or is there another Nvidia-esque feature to be copied added first meaning it'll be 2017?

I'm kidding obviously but it's not good when most people have finished a game before crossfire drivers are released for it. Where's the incentive to buy more than 1 AMD card if they don't work in the games that need (or at least can make use of) more than 1 card?

Don't disagree with you, however, it's always been the way regardless the vendor with mgpu.

Both have the same good/bad mgpu support give or take depending the game vendor imo, it happened when the surge of GE titles landed-next to no mgpu support for Nvidia and now it's happening on AMD, mainly TWIMTBP titles.

The bigger concern again imo, is whether this is a sign of things to come or if AMD will get back to generally good mgpu support.

Something didn't feel right about it when I used AFR custom profile.

Can't put my finger on it. Frame time maybe (but I didn't check)

Think it's called UbiSmooth.:p

To be fair to Ubisoft FarCry 4 has pockets of high Drawcall's from Geometry physics doted all around the map, moving about your field of view moves in and out of these causing very sudden spikes in frame rates, that causes stuttering.
Its also not helped by shader caching for that Geometry, which is usually geometric vegetation, thats very densely packed Geometry and shading.
Drawcalls and shader caching can jump from 1000 to 7, 8, 9, 10,000 in a single movement, that will cause hitching.

There isn't anything Ubisoft can do about that, they could set a low Sprite Distance Ratio and low LOD Ratio for the Geometry on mass and they have done that, i can see that as i move around, but it only helps so much.
Other than that they could thin out that Geometry, if you want something to look good you're not going to do that.

It's not really a failure on Ubisofts part, this is a failure of DirectX 11.

Where has AMDMatt been? Not seen him for a few days.

Playing games with the new driver.:p

Is there anything specific in the AMD Catalyst Center that I need to change, enable, disable etc for performance? Not sure what options to expect.

No, it's ready to go, you can over ride game settings with higher IQ on older titles though.

Not for much longer working on a nice green combo AMD dropped the ball lately

Im looking forwards to playing those and im sure that if they were finished games that AMD would have had a profile for them by now as in the past beta/alpha game updates have broken profiles numerous times, but saying that these games are not the average and more effort should be made in getting profiles for them.

It has and if you had SLI you could enjoy the SLI shadow bug and possibly the flickering water SLI bug in ACU, because having a profile out quickly is more important than it working correctly on their own sponsored titles.

Do we know that the Crossfire profile will work perfectly when it lands?

On time and broken is annoying, late and broken is probably more annoying.

Am I the only one here that just installs the display driver and that's it? I do everything else through MSI Afterburner. Is there any benefit at all to having CCC installed and running on one card?

One advantage is VSR (Virtual supoer resolution) I use it in older games/less demanding games like GRID Autosport and F1 2014 for better visuals.

I'm also experimenting with it in dying light without AA as it seems to use my GPU more and lower the CPU usage, just seems to run smoother with similar/better visuals.

Cheers - I don't want to have to re do all the settings each time I have to install it. I've also had an issue with the install itself now, an error relating to a missing DLL. Fresh download & install of windows - didn't screen shot it but it was relating to RivaTuner!

I think there is a DX update that needs to be installed before you can install AB+Riva tuner, however it should auto install when you install AB.

Most of the time when things are late is because they are trying to make it better, that does not guarantee that it will and no one is trying to guarantee that it will,. but late to make it better is the common way of things, so that's something new you have learnt.

The profile for Darksiders disabled CF, the Darksiders 2 profile does not disable CF for Darksiders 2, Darksiders and Darksiders 2 use the game engine, the Darksiders 2 profiles works with Darksiders with glorious CF tri fire super-sampling and all, maybe they should have spent more time with making the Darksiders profile in the first place. ;)
