The AMD Driver Thread

I think that's exactly the point I made earlier that you took issue with to start the conversation...

I didn't take issue with anything to start that conversation, it was you just having issue with the fact that more time is no guarantee as if somehow in me making my original statement i was trying to implying that, which i was not or there would be no point in your comment and then a comment with examples of things being delayed not working as they should at all if your were not and then making apples to oranges statement which some feature aspects are simply limited by the hardware which then makes it irreverent to the point.

You just made the wrong assumption.

The simple fact is more time gives a better chance for thing to go right that does not mean guarantee but for some reason that's how you took it, if you disagree more time gives a better chance for thing to go right then so be it because there was no other aspect to my comment.

It seems we may have been arguing the same thing then, just wording it differently :)

So AMD are taking longer in the hope that it will work better, but Nvidia didn't intend to release it broken either. So AMD may have taken longer to give us better mGPU performance or they may have taken longer to give us more or less the same (might be different issues, but there may still be issues).

Of course there's nothing to stop Nvidia releasing more drivers with improved SLI, meaning their customers have had the choice all along (with some issues) and may get similar quality mGPU experience at the same time AMD users do. AMD could've done the same, released some early, even if buggy and then released an improved version later. Customers wouldn't have lost anything that way.

There was nothing to argue about and somethings are released knowingly broken with here you go its better than nothing for the sake of well we do have a profile and there is no guarantee that a new and improved profile will be made which will be playing on peoples mind, make the best first impression you can.

Yeah, from a marketing point of view I guess it's not great, but then neither is not having a profile I guess.
As you say there's no guarantee that there will be an updated profile, just like there's no guarantee AMD's will be any good when they finally release it.

I guess that in both cases it's also fair to blame the game developers as no doubt some of the issues encountered will be down to them and not Nvidia/AMD.

Because people with Crossfire (and there are a lot here because it's an enthusiast forum) want the crossfire profiles to support games that were released in the last 3 months or so.

For me it'll be the difference between playing at 35fps at 4k and 60+ fps at 4k.

Was just wondering, are these new drivers coming along shortly going to be WHQL's or likely to just be betas?

Not that it will matter to me personally. Just curious

Seriously lol for the last month you have been banging on about how out of order Nvidia are and you were never going back. Then you go out and buy a gtx980.

We've had a 980 (A few) and a few 290X's since they launched. I sold my last 290X 8GB in prep for the new gen of cards. The 980 was in our other PC, I'm now using the 980 as a interim card, then it will be sold as well.

Makes more sense to use the 980 in the meanwhile. The plus side being that Dying Light and Far Cry 4 are playable @ 1440P with all the gubbins turned on.

Make no mistake as soon as AMD release something better the 980 will be on the MM :D

I do not want to give anymore money to Nvidia, but if AMD don't deliver then they will force me to the dark side lol..

Roll on 390X !!

He didn't buy it. He had swapped it out to wait for the 3xx release but got impatient :p

:D

This makes sense. Still a nice card for backup. I have a good feeling about AMD's next releases as they truly need to be good or they are in even more crap than they are in now.

Yeah I hope they do bring out something really good. Judging by how well the 980 performs, the GM200 should be pretty beastly. I hope AMD can match or surpass it. Quite fancy a monster AIO reference card, the 980 with Kuhler 920 works well using the case fan as intake. I can just swap this out for AIO 390X when it drops..
