The AMD Driver Thread

Guess you running Windows 7?
Because core parking as no effect on Windows 8.. Also if you want to remove the core parking you can do by just setting pc power settings to high performance..

Nope, i'm running 8.1 and my power setting is set to "High Performance". Ran the CPU Core parking utility and it said 2 cores were parked.

Yeah it will do but if you was to open performance monitor you would see that they are not parked.. The setting is just left over from windows 7 it as no effect on parking core. Have you always used high performance?

That is very strange tbh because its always been known that Core parking on Windows 8 don;t run the same as Windows 7.. Like if you was to disable that setting and open up performance monitor you would never see core parked under Windows 8 so long you have High performance.

Yeah that's just reading a setting left in the reg from Windows 7..

Has you can see here I run Balanced mode in Power setting.. and Windows 8.1 Core parking app says my cores are parked, when in true that is false. If I look at performance monitor all core are indeed awake..

Well unparking using that utility definitely stopped the stutter in Thief. Ran Thief before unparking and running the benchmark which stuttered like a bitch. After unparking and restarting i ran the benchmark again and the stuttering had completely gone.

Glad u fixed it benny.. people had the same experience with BF4.

Now wheres this bloody driver? Im missing the joys of installing a driver and the buzz of what its gonna bring me after a reboot :D

Most of the time when things are late is because they are trying to make it better, that does not guarantee that it will and no one is trying to guarantee that it will,. but late to make it better is the common way of things, so that's something new you have learnt.

The profile for Darksiders disabled CF, the Darksiders 2 profile does not disable CF for Darksiders 2, Darksiders and Darksiders 2 use the game engine, the Darksiders 2 profiles works with Darksiders with glorious CF tri fire super-sampling and all, maybe they should have spent more time with making the Darksiders profile in the first place. ;)

What do you mean something new I've learnt?
Of course that's the intention. I doubt they intentionally release things with issues whether they do it early, on time or late.

Nvidia's DSR doesn't work with SLI, which is disappointing as it means I can't really use it.
AMD's version (VSR?) took a lot longer to arrive and doesn't even scale up to 4K, let alone allow you to scale on a 4K monitor. So I can't use that either.

Just because AMD do it slower doesn't mean they do it perfect. They might avoid some issues while creating brand new ones. Let's hope not though so if people can be bothered to re-play the games when the crossfire finally hits they can do it without issue.

At least releasing it early gives people the choice of putting up with the issues, not releasing the profile doesn't give people a choice in the matter.

Mantle (and the supporting games) haven't been perfect from the outset, but would you rather AMD hadn't released it until they were all working perfectly or are you happy they've released it in the state it's in so you can decide if you try it or not?
Are you saying you wish AMD hadn't released Mantle so we'd been spared the issues (VRAM increase, memory leaks, lack of multi GPU support)?

DSR does work with SLI, just not in conjunction with G-Sync monitors. What i'm wanting from AMD in their next driver is VSR to scale up to 4k & 1440p to run at 120Hz+.

Well then no more needs to be said, we just have to wait and see if it was worth the wait, im not interested in going into a tangent and let my imagination run away because more time does not always guarantee to work out for the better.

Hopefully it will be worth the wait.

In fairness to Matt though, I don't think there is anything he can do to speed things along.

Granted, some kind of ETA would be nice though - that way I can stop getting my hopes up every time someone bumps this thread :D
