The AMD Driver Thread

What happens at 8pm tonight? Game would have been out 20 hours by then for us and even longer for Aussies etc.

AMD dropping the ball.

Come out announcing new flashy control software and not delivering the basics.

Does Fallout 4 support SLI? Difficult to tell from a quick Google as the results are just full of people asking the question in the run up to release. Just wondering if it's maybe a case of the game/engine not being multi-GPU friendly rather than "AMD dropping the ball."

That said, I don't care about Fallout 4 or Black Ops 3 personally - I'm waiting for Just Cause 3 to come out! :D

Like above maybe the game doesn't support multi GPUs atm I heard SLI is having issues also.. So bring this to single GPU maybe Amd already have the best possible driver out at this moment? I do know Amd struggle with there GPUs when tesseleation is over used, some of the Gameworks features use tesseleation like GodRays Haaaa what? Users report say put this setting on low will give you a nice boost I'm performance with not much change in IQ.

Now am not stating facts here guys so don't take this the wrong way, am just pointing out other areas as to why no driver yet.
If you not crashing or glitching I would just enjoy the game as is..

Well the game seems to be running pretty well on my pc in sig, everything on max except gimpworks god rays, that is set to low.

FPS mostly at 60FPS for now but dips to 50 every now and then, need to wait and see till I get further in the game as to if that performance will remain though!

EDIT:

It is hard to say but from reading around SLI also appears to be broken so not sure why people are annoyed about no proper crossfire support :p

The hilarious thing is, see if an AMD sponsored game was released and there was no crossfire support on day 1, the nvidia lot would been screaming about this from the rooftops and saying how AMD drivers suck etc., I guarantee that there would be a thread about it too.... ;)

But yeah, dual GPU would be great for the higher res. and 144hz monitors but the faff of it just isn't worth it imo, you already have to faff about with game settings, config files etc. enough already.

Where is everyone going crazy? :D I'm disappointed theres no crossfire but I'm used to it lol. Iv managed to get the game running okay in a single card so that will have to do. I mean Skyrim with an ENB never worked in crossfire so I'm used to running these games on a single card.

You see... and people keep saying it's a myth that AMD's drivers are not as good as Nvidia's.

This is basic GPU 101. Have drivers ready for games as and when the market demands them. Not just roll everything up in to one big 'OMEGA' driver once a year, to make them look good. :o

You my friend need to understand a couple things..

1. Fallout 4 don't support sli or crossfire atm
2. Nvidia released a driver for a game sponsored by them shocking, when you have your own tech in a game you better had support it.
3. A game doesn't always need a driver to work, people think drivers are be all, to end all they are not.

Has other have said already single GPU is working fine so amd driver has already done it's job at getting the game working and running.

My only issue really is these companies promoting these things like crossfire, its awesome its amazing, so much performance ect and then on huge AAA games don't have working crossfire drivers. Its like buying a Ferrari with a Fiat Punto engine lol. Nice to look at but not what you paid for.

Told ya so :D

Only played for about 30 minutes so far so still plenty of time for it to crash etc. :p

Besides, I had to go through a lot of "faff" first to get it to an acceptable standard, at least for me anyway:

What I had to do manually to get the game running to an "acceptable" standard:

- adjust FOV
- add 21.9 support
- remove mouse acceleration
- add res. of my screen

And it didn't require just 1 character being changed or one line but often you had to add 2 lines and to top it of, not just once but twice.... You have to edit the .ini files in your documents AND in the install directory so it isn't as easy or quick as any other game config .ini files.

I didn't have to do anything about unlocking FPS though, mine already had a cap of 60.

Not played for more than 30 minutes so I have yet to encounter bugs but still the very fact that I can't change the most basic setting there is i.e. my res. without having to go through 2 config files is a joke....

There were other "fixes" that needed to be done too but I couldn't be assed.

EDIT:

For those interested, here is a guide with all the fixes
