The AMD Driver Thread

Anyone else getting bad tearing in Fallout 4 with the new Crimson drivers? Freesync enabled but I get this horrible tear line pretty much dead centre horizontally on my screen.

No settings changed other than the new drivers

I've tested other games and the Crimson drivers appear to have broken Freesync for me. I getting tearing in all games

Anyone else getting this pop up, as soon as you hit restart/shutdown ?

I get the same pop up.

If I start my PC and don't load the amd software and proceed to shut down, no errors.

If I do the same process but this time load the amd software and proceed to shutdown bam, I get that error message.

Anyone else getting this too?

i don't know whats going on for me. on some games of crysis 3 it locks at 120fps and runs both GPU's ( gpu1: 100% gpu2: fluxtaes) but in other games it only uses 1 GPU and runs like crap. what am i doing wrong please? :S

That's usually no crossfire profile. Have you got the setting below crossfire enabled? This helped me :) AC was doing until I enabled that.

So far running very good here. Played Rainbow six, Fifa 16 and starwars..

Shader cache am just not sure what I should be looking for tbh
Freesync below 40hz is a massive difference I tested and noticed right away..

Guys might need coupe you too test something. I think I have found a bug.

If you enable FRTC for global say 140fps and then go into a game profile and disable FRTC for that game in my case CSGO. My frame rate halved and wouldn't fix unless I either disabled Global setting or enabled profile again.

Now if I disable Global setting and just use profile it works perfectly. I only had this happen on CSGO so far.

Turned shader caching on for GTA V and now tri-fire doesn't hitch! :D I'm impressed! Went to load up BF4 and it just closes :( Can't blame the driver though because I haven't loaded that game up in probably 6 months lol. Need to redo the updates most likely.

My impressions.

  1. New UI. Not impressed at all, this is not just an AMD thing but a lot of software are going for pointless Windows 8 Tile layouts. A lot of space is taken up giving very little info.
  2. GPU core clock are all over the place using my previously perfect settings. My performance in most games has tanked because GPU core clock are dropping to 600. Though I think most of this is down to dodgy power limits on these drivers.
  3. The extra features are nice but it seems the flip queue options is not under user control. Is flip queue dynamically controlled by the drivers now?

Overall some good some bad, but I will tinker with power tune settings to see if I can cure the core clock fluctuations. Still from what I can see from my limited time a definite step in the right direction from AMD.

I found the install to be smooth (I uninstalled the older drivers first) and the new UI loads so fast. Very good experience for me so far and I will try a few more games later when I get in from work.

BF4 is running at approx 8-10 FPS quicker than before, so I am happy. I think on the whole it's a good move for AMD. So far it seems there are more plusses than minuses for the majority of posters.

There are going to be issues here and there but I am sure they will work hard to sort them out. Good start to a new era for Radeon Technologies Group.

:D

Took me a while to find the Overdrive panel. Noticing my 7950 is sitting on lower speeds more often, might be because I have the FTC set to 60 (I don't have a fancy monitor :p).

Another odd thing I noticed was a notification that came up saying it detected I was using high DPI monitors... except I'm not, it's just the same old 24" 1080p screens I've been using for years.

Got the application error message as well after rebooting from the first time, rebooted again a few times after but haven't noticed it again.

Only on the first restart after installing the driver.

Please can you do a quick test to confirm?

1. Turn on your PC
2. Open up the new Crimson app
3. Shut down your PC
4. Do you get the error message?

I know if you turn your PC on and go about your normal stuff without opening up the Crimson app you don't get the error message when shutting down. I only get the error message when the app has been opened in any stage when the PC is on followed by shutting down.

Thanks

Im getting compass issues on Fallout 4 as well , not a game breaker , but i think Fallout was running better with the default 15.8 drivers that get installed when using a fresh build of Windows 10 build 10586
