The AMD Driver Thread

Am using Crimson fan control here works fine. I keep my fan locked at 30%

If it's not working for you I expect a conflict between afterburner and Crimson.

All my games now hang after 40 minutes instead of the other issue

Crimson 16.1

Catalyst 15.7 to Crimson 15.12

Since June, AMD has been breaking all sort of stuff for my setup... as long as the mass is happy it's fine I guess, but I'm not happy anymore, thanks to you AMD.

Lets not forget about the 2d idle bug that is FINALLY on the known issue list after 6 freaking months.

I just reinstalled Windows 8.1 and drivers 15.6 and tested games all night, absolutely 0 issue. I have lost tremendous amount of time troubleshooting this. I would say over 100 hours. In other words, all versions above 15.6 (15.7 and up) are a complete mess for me, actually, since Windows 10 and Freesync/Crossfire support.

With AMD, you are not a gamer anymore, you are a troubleshooter.

I'm still getting the problem with these new drivers with bsod on startup and have to use safe mode to get in the os to uninstall driver and roll back to 15.11.1.i have afterburner installed which I think is the problem, is there any other over locking tools that run ok with the Crimson drivers?

uninstalled 16.1 (hotfix)
Had a bit of a meltdown after a promising start. Back to December's
I tried going back to 15.7 but if flipped its lid, and so here we are. Poor...really poor AMD

Afterburner causes some problems such as black screen when booting into Windows and crashing if you overclock the VRAM. Try running VRAM at stock or just disable the 'apply overclocking at system startup' option and manually enable overclocking when you play games.

I use AB and the asus GPU teak software, both work fine for locking gpu core clocks

So you don't get black screen with ab and Crimson, any of the Crimson drivers I've had this problem but 15.11.1 and earlier I don't get it, it's definity ab that is causing it though.

i stopped using afterburner when i noticed it ****s my fps in csgo. Not sure who to blame, amd or afterburner though.
Also to the guy who said not to use DDU because it aint the 90's anymore. When I tried to uninstall the driver using the original AMD uninstaller i would rebouot and crimson would still be in the system tray saying i dont have any AMD driver installed.

Sometimes you need DDU or a program like it.

Kun my dutch friend.

If you are looking for an alternative to MSI AB for an overlay, HWINFO64 works like a dream. :)

Just install over the top.

No no no. No! This is not recommended at all, it can cause problems especially when switching from Catalyst to Crimson.
