The AMD Driver Thread

That's expected behaviour. Disable ULPS if you want the second GPU to sit at 300/150.

Matt, come on dude, you think I don't know how ULPS works and that I'd have it enabled running crossfire :p ULPS is disabled, it always is. This is what I can't understand.

Tried renabling it, disabled it, reinstalled it, still the same.

These Crimsons really have been the worst drivers for me in the last 12 months, pretty unimpressed with them to be honest. Just to many things causing annoying little issues revolving around crossfire.

How are you disabling ULPS - Afterburner, regedit?

Also, purely out of interest, why would you want to? I know in the early days some people got better benchmarks without it and some monitoring tools didn't pick up the second GPU when it woke up but I thought those days were long behind us now.

Because there are a few games now that on previous drivers crossfire worked just fine. Yet on the latest Crimson driver, crossfire is now not working and it shows the 2nd card doing nowt. I was wondering if this was some sort of issue around ULPS actually before Matt suggested it, just wanted to see what everyone else is experiencing.

And disabling ULPS in MSIAB.

Lol, that's your problem then Tony. MSI AB only disbales ULPS for GPU1. Use Trixxx instead to disable ULPS. ;)

hmmm trixxx comes up with some interesting results when I google it ;)

Checked "EnableULPS" in Registry, that was already disabled with a "0" so no idea why it's doing it.

Do you still run MSIAB alongside Trixxx Matt?

yes you can but I've found msiab to be really buggy lately with AMD drivers; even the latest version......its been causing a lot of game crashes; so I've just uninstalled it for now and run with trixxs

Trixxx is for disabling ULPS, MSI AB is for everything else. After ULPS is off Trixxx is exited and not used until i update drivers. :)

I've got a couple of programs that, when running, wake up my second GPU from it's ULPS slumber - specifically NZXT CAM and Creative Sound Blaster's Control Panel.

Is there any way in the AMD software to tell it to exclude these two and leave the GPU asleep for them? Pretty sure the answer's no, but thought it was worth an ask as even leaving them only in the system tray doesn't allow the GPU to sleep.

It's not a huge problem, just annoying when ULPS usually works very well in my setup.

System as in sig, and running Windows 10 64bit.

Not that I'm aware of unfortunately mate.

I no longer use Crossfire but I noticed this when I upgraded to Windows 10. Applications such as Skype would wake the second card, when it used to stay off in Windows 8.1.

I also noticed accessing video options in CCC would wake the second card if another application hadn't already.

I can't and won't give ETA's because things can change quickly, but we're working on it. :)

I really hope AMD manage to fix these problems with lower than expected framerate due to downclocking at the wrong time in certain games, particularly when using Vsync e.g. dreamfall chapters where the FPS will lock to 30 in certain parts whereas without Vsync it is 100+ in the same parts.

well thats it, had enough of Crossfire on 16.1 Crimson, sick and tired of profiles not saving and not having the 2nd card do anything in a lot of games that I know crossfire was previously working. Final straw tonight going back to BF4, again perfect profile previously on old drivers, but played tonight and 2nd card was doing naff all, tried so many things to get it moving but nothing worked. Rolled back to 15.12 driver, crossfire now working perfect on BF4, Blade & Soul, Project Cars, Tomb Raider and a few more. 16.1 was 100% broken for me, and tried installing them multiple times, so if you're having issue, just go back to 15.12.

I upgraded to Crimson Edition 15.12 drivers I noticed a bug on GTA 5 where on the mini map any way point or cops detection radius indicator would flicker and mainly disappear. Rolled back my drivers fixed this!

Occasionally when I switch on my PC/Restart my GPU fans ramp up to max every once in a while I was wondering why this happens so inconsistently? Also Catalyst Control center isn't appearing in my task bar icon tray when I search my system for the program although I have accessed it since rolling back so it seems to have disappeared :S

Any idea's :D

I tried the 16.1 drivers but they crash quite often so I used DDU to get rid and let windows update install the GPU driver. Don’t know which version it is, its listed as Driver Packaging Version 15.201.1151.1008-151104a-296217E and has CCC.
