The AMD Driver Thread

Getting some weird jitter during bf4 even though the fps is locked to 59(vsync on) the same jitter happens with uncapped framerate and vsync off. Gameplay is not smooth besides tearing of course. Happens with the 16.5.2.1 and the 16.5.3. Havent tried any other driver as i also play doom which is for the most part smooth but also has the same weird drop is smoothness spite the fps being locked. Dunno wtf is happening.

It could be, I've tried 3 different insider builds now and all have had the same issue. Also not much has popped up via Google, I would have thought there would be a fair few forum posts if it was widespread.

Insider builds are not a good thing. I have a Microsoft Surface Book for work and the insider builds don't even work properly on Microsoft's own hardware. I have just reverted to a factory install and the machine is transformed. Obviously a Surface Book is an nVidia chip, but I'd be very surprised if Insider builds aren't your issue. My 295X2 has worked with all Crimson drivers without a hitch quite probably because I have steered clear of Windows Betas. Frankly, they feel like Alpha builds.

Yep I get the same, can be hitting 100+fps and get a jitter while running

You sure it isn't reading 20%? That's normal if so.

Yes i'm sure, but.......those readings were in hwmonitor, so for example if in crimson settings etc i change my fans to 50%, it would drop down to 50rpm on hwmonitor, 40% 40rpm etc, very weird, it could be a bug i suppose, or some kind of conflict, but i'll stick to the whql's for now till the next one arrives ;D

I tried removing the overclock. Did nothing for the issue. I have then tried running at stock but without Afterburner opened which seems to have improved the issue but sadly not completely removed it. I dont recall my experience being this choppy last i had AMD in the machine. Wonder if is win 10 causing mayhem again. I have even reinstalled windows back when i sold my 980ti. The only thing thats left to me would be the fact that its hooked up to a gsync display but that would be ****** up if that was the cause, guess ill know in a weeks time when my LG ultrawide arrives.

Just updated to latest driver, can see logo on screen during POST, can see the little Windows 10 logo then the screen goes black and into standy mode. Went into safe mode removed them, DDU and reinstalled, still the same getting black screens after POST.

Any ideas?

EDIT......NEVER MIND GOT IT SORTED

However, what's happened to all the advanced settings? There doesn't seem to be any option now to go open the old style CCC panel, in there you could set colour levels, check on Freesync, move around displays, desktop management....that all seems to have disappeared.

Radeon Settings > Preferences > Additional Settings.

We are in the process of moving the rest of the features from CCC over to Radeon Settings.

How did you get it sorted? Mine randomly did this and won't sort itself out even after using DDU.

thanks Matt.

Got another annoying little problem as well. Got TV connected to PC via HDMI - PC is in lounge. When my PC starts, it always picks up on the TV first before the monitor on DP, even if the TV is off, and also with "Show only on 1" (1 being my BenQ monitor) is chosen for the Multiple Displays category. Only way I can stop it starting on the lounge TV, is by unplugging the HDMI lead, which is a bit of a ballache. If you can picture my monitor being black at the Windows 10 welcome screen, where you put in the password...Well once I logon, I can hear the windows sound for finding new hardware, then the monitor pops into action. Not to sure why it's doing that.

any ideas on that one?

It was displaying video out on my lounge TV, for some strange reason I cant get it to pick up on my monitor first...see above.

Have you looked at windows display settings? Am sure I seem an option for primary display.

My jitter is gone and it dissappeared for the weirdest of reasons. I wanted to get use to 75hz ultrawide so i made a custom res in Crimson of 2560x1080@85(my monitor refuses any res at 70-80hz for whatever reason) and now everything is butter smooth. its like running at 60hz is problematic with my current monitor. Anyways.. im happy and i will be gaming on.
