The AMD Driver Thread

16.9.1 showing incredible improvements in DX11 what a beast driver!!! this is good stuff. I had trouble with the dota 2 crossfire profile but I think it was something I did specific. BO3 / new NFS running exceptional now !! huge FPS increase!!

Is that on any game or just in Deus EX if its in any game i may have to give these drivers ago :D still on 16.6.2

Although it looks like the main fix is to use Clockblocker, is this recommended? Seems a bit odd that you have to install a non amd program to get it to work properly

I'm no longer having the clock problem, It was fixed within a few weeks of Crimson starting, I run my Fury with the power efficiency setting ON and it sits at it's 1040 clock consistently.

Just about to install these new drivers now, noticed a new option in the install menu:

application profiles

The summary isn't exactly clear on what it is...

Should I bother installing it on my 290?

EDIT:

Also, it isn't ticked by default either, where as everything else is.

Aye clock bouncing was fixed a long time ago and that really was an issue but some people are worried about GPU load not consistently showing 100% in GPU-Z? Maybe an issue with GPU-Z?

I've not had the 100% GPU load with these yet, but if i dont up the power limit my core clock doesnt stay maxed out. Add 10% and it maxes in 3DMark, without the extra power its at around 1250 core instead of 1306 (can see the difference in 3DMark scores too), and in games my load is up and down like a yoyo, 100% then down to even 0% and anything and everything inbetween. Surely this isnt right, my 7950 never did this.

Had this problem on 16.8.1, 16.8.3 and now these 16.9.1 drivers.

Power Efficiency and Compatibility Mode are disabled.

Whats going on here guys?

do you see any performance issues in games?

DayZ sometimes stutters, not sure if the odd stutter in Arma 3 Battle Royale is the GPU or just the game itself being more on the CPU.

GPU load isnt meant to be bouncing down to 0% 1% 2% etc when theses plenty going on, i've always monitored these things and even the CPU reliant Second Life has never fluctuated GPU load like this before.

Edit, like i said before, just moving my mouse around when nothing is running and PC is idle, i see the clocks bounce up and down in GPU-Z and Real Temp.. its ridiculous.

That's not Application profiles, that is the games tab with installed games that Radeon settings has picked so that you can make custom settings for each game, there is an add button top right for games that Radeon settings have not picked up.

To get too the Applications you click on one of those then go to the Crossfire mode tab and choose AMD pre defined.
And its not a new thing, been able to see these and choose from day one with crimson and used to do the same with CCC.
The driver has its own Profiles, but it can also load additional profiles from file which may just contain the updated Dota 2 profile.

I think its a combination of anniversary update / msi afterburner readings mines been doing it for a very long time now but I have not observed any negative performance impact.

I tried the dota2 crossfire profile and it didn't work out but I'm fine with single card so "I'm not greedy"
