The AMD Driver Thread

Cheers guys! In some ways I'm feeling so lost with all this new stuff and new drivers and updates that are needed lol. I'm just happy I managed to get it up and running without electrocuting myself or setting the building on fire or something like that.

Ok I got a bit of a problem here with installing the drivers.. I've got the drivers downloaded from AMD, I'm extracting them completely, but as soon as they get all extracted to installation seems to crash.. Any one got an idea what to do?

I'm going mad over this stuff... I got the RX480 installed in the pc, all the connectors are connected (at least I can't find anything that isn't connected to it as it should), it is working as the fan is spinning, but I still can't install the drivers... I've done anything I can think of, from doing that "run as admin" stuff to redownload the drivers, trying an older driver as well, nothing seems to make it work.
As I said yesterday, it all seem to extract into the C:/AMD folder, but as soon as the extraction is done the installation crashes and the windows troubleshooter or what is called starts up but can never find a solution to it...

All the installations I did for the motherboard (Asus Maximius VIII Hero) works perfectly fine and installed fine, the Windows 7 updates I've done seems to be working fine too, so I have no idea what the problem is.

I did even use the AMD cleaning thing that someone posted earlier..

I not sure what else I can say apart from have you downloaded the Windows 7 driver?

put the card in a different pci-e slot.
check bios also.

I will try put the card in my old computer either tonight or tomorrow. I will try check through the BIOS and another PCI-E port tonight after work.

The weird thing though is that it is the installation program that crashes during the installation, just after all the files gets extracted to the AMD folder.

I have downloaded and redownloaded the Windows 7 driver, both the latest one and the one before 16.12.1 and 16.12.2, and they have the same problem..

I'm really wondering if it is an issue with Win7? Because the cards seems to be functioning otherwise with the fans running and so.

Well, just need to do some more error searching when I get home

I finally got it to work. I got home from work and thought I will give it one more go before I go check BIOS and another PCI-port and all that stuff. So I went to AMD's website, and I got the driver checking software downloaded. Yesterday when I tried it didn't work, now this time it did work! I was mighty surprised but now I got the latest drivers downloaded and working and feel damn good about it :)

Thank you for all your answers to my annoying problem though :D I will remember them for the future :)

Sometimes the simplest thing can cause issues which then disappear after a good nights sleep for both you and the PC.

Yeah, it felt really strange as I had done nothing than installed some Windows updates.. And they had installed yesterday and was working when I still had problems. But well, it is working now :)

I have updated my graphics drivers to AMD 16.11.5 games take longer to load and also crash after some 10 mins.

I then updated the drivers to 16.12.2 graphics got much better loaded a little quicker, I tested the game for about 1 hour before it crashed at around 50 mins in.

Update: Looks like its a issue with the latest AMD mantle, I switched to Direct X 11 and it works fine in ultra

Out of interest underclock your GPU and memory by 50-100mhz for example...
