The AMD Driver Thread

On top of AMD disappointing us with no news on the hardware side of things.... what about the software side of things?

- 21.9 VSR support??
- vsync alternatives to nvidia's fast and adaptive sync???

Come on, surely it can't be that hard to implement if nvidia have had them for ages?

What I also find amusing is that apparently people have got 21.9 VSR working through CRU and some are even able to add freesync to their non freesync monitors......

Possible fix for you guys that have Wattman reset on system start up. Seems like its a glitch that happens when you have Windows 10 Fast boot enabled... If fast boot fails to load it will load the last known clean settings that also restores Wattman settings. I just found this out by my Fast boot glitched and failed to load some programs at start up and I also got Wattman failure.

Too see if this is the case for you, does wattman only fail from a full system power on meaning you first have shutdown then system? Or does it also fail even with a simple system restart?
If it doesn't happen with a normal restart then you will need to delete or temp disable and re-enable Hibernation

Turned hibernation off to check this and its been 4 days without the wattman crash.

Cheers mate:cool:

My AMD radeon control panel seems to be crashing again for no reason.....

What makes it even more infuriating is that I need to restart my PC completely in order for the undervolt to properly re-apply otherwise this happens:

My AMD radeon control panel seems to be crashing again for no reason.....

No one have any idea why this is happening?

Tried DDU, tried with/without relive, tried putting everything in amd to default settings.

Getting incredibly frustrating now due to also having to restart the computer every time in order for my undervolt settings to properly re-apply....

Yup it is completely random.

Had no issues at all this time last week, heck PC was fine yesterday. But 3 days ago and today, just non stop crashing.....

And then when I go to open radeon crimson control panel, it doesn't respond:

Time to go back to 16.11.5 again.........

I went back to 17.4.2 cuz ReLive wasnt working in 17.5.1/2.. crash was with the 17.4.2 driver.

The last 2 drivers are the only ones that have/were working great for me, any one before them and after 16.11.5 were terrible (even without relive installed), performance issues and crash galore.

Back on 16.11.5 now so will report back.

For some reason windows 10 seem to be automatically updating my drivers to 17.1.1 now.........

You definitely seems to have more issues than time for gaming lol
Seems you have more than just a driver issue happening here.
They is an option to switch off auto driver install under Windows update. Since turning this off windows haven't ever installed a driver without me telling it.

About Relive I been using this none stop lately and couldn't be happier with it.
Live streaming is excellent with image quality and performance to back it up.

Yup tell me about it :(

What I don't get is that this issue is so random. No issues at all a week or 2+ weeks ago and then all of a sudden today, non stop driver crashes. Literally nothing has changed on my PC..... For all I know, the PC will probably be working great for the next week and then same issues will start to happen randomly again.

Where is that option to turn of auto update under windows update?

Thankfully I've no need for relive so it can stay uninstalled.

Like I posted page back or so reset your windows 10 hibernation they seems to be a bug with Windows and it failing to load the correct files. Resulting in a driver setting reset, check event viewer for failed boot.

One of the first things I do on a new installation.

Checked event viewer and can't see anything boot related either although here are screenshots:

Not at PC right now but it's within window update settings area.

If nothing showing up does your motherboard have active LED? On my Asus board when Windows boots from a reset or restart LED will say A0 if I shutdown and switch on windows 10 fast boot will kick in and on LED it will say 40 meaning using hibernation files

So I can see when a failed fast boot has happened and when it's happened in the past amd driver setting also reset.
But I also had a event listing in event viewer about double boot.

Since I done hibernation reset been fine since also fixed my motherboard software for fan control.

How are you resetting it? I can turn hibernation on or off, but whenever it's on, I get the Wattman failure.
