The AMD Driver Thread

Nope, I never power off my PSU and it happens to me. For some people Wattman doesn't seem compatible with Windows Fastboot.

Guys it doesn't matter if you never power off the PSU, Windows fast boot is invoked every single time Windows boots, cold or warm. Even with fast boot on, in some rare cases during a cold boot Wattman will load your previous settings fine. The problem is that with fast boot enabled, more often than not it causes Wattman to reset to defaults. It matters not if you power the PSU off or leave it on standby 24/7, that's a red herring.

If you want to be sure, turn off Windows fast boot PERIOD.

Noticed in crysis 3 that gpu usage with vsync enabled is so low that the clocks drop too far and the game runs poorly. I've had to crank the AA up and turn vsync off to keep the clocks up and even then the gpu usage still fluctuates a lot. I somewhat doubt that a 12c/24t threadripper running at 4GHz would be a bottleneck.

Is there a power mode like nvidida to force it to prefer maximum performance?

A few reviews I've seen showed crysis 3 running not too great on vega, even worse than a fury and no explanation for it

Radeon Chill if enabled will downclock the GPU. Other then that you can give higher power usage in Wattman to make sure the clocks stay at max

@AMDMatt do you know of any reason why we cannot do VSR on 4K monitors beyond 5K ? I can plug in my backup GTX 770 and do DSR all the way up to 8K no problem if I want, For fun and screenies, Yet a brand new card like Vega64 does not have the option for VSR passed 5K.

Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition 17.11.2 Highlights

Support For

  • Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II
Fixed Issues

  • Radeon ReLive recorded clips may experience green corruption or green screen backgrounds.
  • Radeon ReLive may fail to record when switching a game between Fullscreen and Borderless Fullscreen.
  • Radeon Settings may experience a crash or hang when enabling/disabling AMD CrossFire mode on some select Radeon HD 7000 series graphics products.
  • Radeon WattMan user interface may not reflect overclocked or underclocked values for GPU memory.
  • Radeon WattMan may not apply correct reduced voltage values for some Radeon RX 400 and Radeon RX 500 series graphics products.
  • Secondary extended displays may experience green corruption when resuming from display off or sleep modes.
Known Issues

  • Radeon RX Vega Series graphics products may experience a system hang on installation in Multi GPU system configurations. A workaround is to do clean install only for Multi GPU enabled systems.
  • Some desktop productivity apps may experience latency when dragging or moving windows.
  • Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six® Siege may experience an application hang when breaching walls with grenades or explosives.
  • A random system hang may be experienced after extended periods of use on system configurations using 12 GPU's for compute workloads.
  • The GPU Workload feature may cause a system hang when switching to Compute while AMD CrossFire is enabled. A workaround is to disable AMD CrossFire before switching the toggle to Compute workloads.
  • Resizing the Radeon Settings window may cause the user interface to stutter or exhibit corruption temporarily.
  • Unstable Radeon WattMan profiles may not be restored to default after a system hang.
  • OverWatch™ may experience a random or intermittent hang on some system configurations. Disabling Radeon ReLive as a temporary workaround may resolve the issue.
  • Radeon RX Vega series graphics products may intermittently experience stability issues while enabling/disabling HBCC

It's seems even more evident to me that Vega is going to mature like 'fine wine' as all recent AMD GPU's have.

And that's a good thing! With more DX12 and Vulkan games in the future it will have longer longevity than the 1000 series will.

During gameplay mate. Seen people on AMD support forum with that issue on Horizon3 And others on apex and F7. It's lots of purple squares appearing in place of textures on sections of the track, trees, buidings etc.

Will take a look tomorrow mate and report back my findings.

Seems like quite a few getting it, going by the link. Did this happen after the Windows update Tony? I not played the game for while now.

First time I noticed tonight, but it' the first time I've played the game for quite a while so it possibly might be related to a Windows update. I get the same corruption on Horizon 3 and Forza 7, has to be something to do with the Forza engine.

Cheers mate, it' not much fun playing with a cycadelic circuit, it' like I'm back to my 90's hardcore rave days lol.

@AMDMatt any news on the texture bugs affecting all Forza games? (Horizon 3, Forza Apex and Forza 7) i can't see any mention of it in fixed issues or known issues. Looks like a few are having issues also over on AMD support forums.
We're still looking at this one, for now you'll have to use an older driver if you want to play these games. Crimson 17.10.1 or .2 were the last working drivers AFAIK.

That bug still exists where when you try to make the window bigger by dragging the corners results in the whole Radeon Settings crashing. Would have thought that would be an easy one to fix.
Oh yeah, it annoys me a lot. I hope they will fix it very soon

Is this with Windows 10 1709? If so it could be a Windows issue, since I know there's at least one other mouse bug with that version of Windows (where dragging and highlighting in certain applications causes the mouse to jump to the bottom-right corner of the screen).
