The AMD Driver Thread

Not sure if this is the right thread to ask in but...

I've got a monitor connected using DVI. For some reason if I go above 1080p (e.g. 1440p) Windows only lets me select 30Hz as the refresh rate. Now when running an Nvidia GPU (980 to be exact) I can use Nvidia control panel to set the monitor to 1440p/60Hz and Windows then runs it at 1440p/59Hz.
If I switched to an AMD setup (Fury X) is there any way to force the resolution/refresh rate back to 1440p/60Hz? I could seem to find a way when I was running my 290Xs.
Is there a 3rd party app that you need to run with AMD drivers?

Thanks.

Try creating a custom resolution within Crimson under display.

Is there any way to force a game profile to keep a constant clock speed regardless of the gpu usage like radeonpro does in this thread? When I play some of the older titles in my collection, the constant changes in clock speed on the core and memory are causing stutters

My V64 definitely doesn't like the latest Crimson update, I kept getting black screens with the fan going 100% randomly, Only a hard reset would cure it, Went back to the prior driver and that problem is gone.

Makes me think it was a voltage issue though as it would never happen during games or anything that used the GPU itself so maybe idle voltage would drop too low perhaps ?

You could set each power state in wattman for that game profile to the same voltage and speed

Installed Vega 64 LC last week on latest drivers 17.11.4, DDU'd previous drivers out on Fury ( probably 17.9ish ) . Generally all ok, but whenever i enter Wattman, if i trying and drag the window larger or expand to full screen, ever other time the whole damm thing locks up and get a Radeon Profiler crash. Anyone experienced this ? Windows 10 64.

Just seen this in known issues

"Resizing the Radeon Settings window may cause the user interface to stutter or exhibit corruption temporarily."

Except it aint temporary , unless i need to wait a few mins !

Yup, need to end task. Sometimes twice. Inconvenient. Especially as I am down to one screen currently :(

So is there a better driver than 17.4.4 out yet? Or should I just stick with it? :)
17.7.1 is supposedly good but I can't be bothered to try it. I won't upgrade the driver again until AMD confirms they've fixed the known issue with Overwatch at least. Even then I'll have to look at performance closely in a few games to check it hasn't regressed again.

Wattman only permits changes to states 6 and 7. I'm seeing issues where the clocks are between state 0 and state 1.
Hmm is that a Vega specific thing? I'm pretty sure I can edit all 8 states of my RX 480 using WattMan.

Yep it's annoying as I'm actually getting poor frame rates in games that are over 15 years old due to low clock speeds. I think my old X850 would be smoother.

An option in the profiles to allow forcing a certain P state clock regardless of actual GPU usage while that 3d application is running would be ideal. Rather similar to nvidia's power management option where you can switch between adaptive and full power.

If someone was to guess when this thread might get a bit busier (due to the release of oooh I dunno a new driver) I wonder if it would be before or after the release of the new Star Wars film?
