The AMD Driver Thread

Just downloaded the 17.11.4 drivers, I'll see what they are like.

On another note, I found an C:/AMD folder that what must be 20+ old installations floating around taking up precious space on my SSD. Deleted the contents to give me 20GB back.

That's weird, i don't get any issues in BF1 like this and from memory, we don't have any similar reports either. If we get some similar reports, we'll dig in a bit.

I think its somehow linked to HBCC mate. When I enable HBCC, the screen goes black for ages, then comes back to life with an error message saying there is no AMD GPU installed in this system. Yet when I then open up Radeon Settings HBCC seems to be enabled. Also, if I try running HWInfo with HBCC enabled, the system completely crashes every time. If i disable HBCC then everything appears to be fine, no texture issues in BF1 and can open HWinfo without any issues etc etc.

I'll do a total uninstall, put the new 17.11.4 (so soon after last driver ) and then see what happens.

HBCC and 17.11.4 are problematic, just got a BSOD while watching a youtube video, also trying to enable HBCC doesn't take most of the time with these drivers and just pops a message in reliability monitor that Radeon Settings.exe has stopped working....drivers seem to be getting worse with each update.......back to 17.11.1 for me.

Update mate, updated to 17.11.4 driver and HBCC appears to be ok now. It' clearly not a system problem as you know I've just done a big build and was having issues on old system, especially the graphical bugs in bf1 which seems directly linked again to HBCC.

I guess it' a 50/50 thing, works for some not for others.

Yeah not sure Tony. We have an issue in Forza 3 with corruption that enabled HBCC fixes, so this appears to be the polar opposite. We are working on that particular bug right now so perhaps once that is fixed, it will fix this one too.

I guess keep HBCC Off for now in BF1, its not need anyway as BF1 has low vram usage <5Gb at 4K max settings.

Does anyone know if a 470 can be crossfired with a 480?

I know you could mix & match the 290, 290x, 390 & 390x so I was wondering if it was possible with Polaris as well?

I think they're the same chip.

EDIT:

I just googled it and apparently they can so I'll have a play with them next week as I just grabbed a 480 off the MM and currently using a 470, That's if they can be squeezed into my case.

It will crash the system sooner or later, give it time. HBCC is flaky at best, had Wolfenstein The New Colessus and COD WWII both crash when using HBCC and eventually ended up with corrupt save files....and it aint my system...it's the HBCC.
