Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.1.1 Release Notes
Article Number: RN-WIN-RADEONCRIMSONRELIVE-18.1.1
Introducing Radeon™ Software Adrenalin Edition, artfully designed and meticulously crafted to unleash the powerful performance and innovation built into Radeon™ Graphics through an incredibly intuitive and utterly beautiful user interface for both PCs and mobile devices.

Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.1.1 Highlights

Resolved Issues

  • A small number of DirectX®9 games may experience crashes or instability.
  • Radeon FreeSync enabled system configurations may experience stuttering when using the performance metrics feature in Radeon Overlay.
  • Protected video content may intermittently experience a freeze or hang during playback.
  • A blank screen may be experienced while playing back videos when using Movies & TV player.
  • Starcraft™2 may experience corruption in multi GPU enabled system configurations.
  • Bezel compensation controls when creating display groups may be misaligned or have no functionality.
  • Blank videos may be experienced when playing back videos in edge browser after the system resumes from sleep.
  • Color corruption may intermittently be observed in Radeon overlay with multiple gaming applications and performance metrics running.
  • The Radeon WattMan fan slider may intermittently fail to change after loading profiles.
  • Enhanced Sync may not enable for game profiles in Radeon Settings when using Vulkan™ API.
  • On multi GPU enabled system configurations Player Unknowns Battlegrounds™ may experience menu item flickering.
  • CLINFO may report incorrect values in multi GPU system configurations.
Known Issues

  • Radeon Chill may fail to enable on Vulkan™ API games.
  • Radeon Overlay hotkey may fail to bring up the overlay or may cause a Radeon Host Application crash intermittently on a limited number of gaming titles.
  • Radeon FreeSync may cause stutter with Radeon ReLive Instant Replay enabled on some fullscreen games.
  • Radeon Settings may experience a hang when enabling AMD CrossFire with three or more graphics products.
  • Trimming videos may fail to create a thumbnail if the video contains non-English characters.
  • Flickering may be observed on the performance metrics overlay when Enhanced Sync is enabled on some Radeon FreeSync connected displays.
  • Performance Metrics Overlay may hang if enabled when cycling display power off and on.
  • The "Reset" function in Radeon Settings for Display, ReLive, and Video may not work as intended when using Radeon Settings in certain regional languages.
  • Radeon WattMan may intermittently fail to load profiles for Radeon RX Vega on the global Radeon Wattman page.
  • A random system hang may be experienced after extended periods of use on system configurations using 12 GPU's for compute workloads.
  • The GPU Workload feature may cause a system hang when switching to Compute while AMD CrossFire is enabled. A workaround is to disable AMD CrossFire before switching the toggle to Compute workloads.

There's definitely something weird happening. I shut down every application I was running and the refresh rate was still flipping between 57 Hz and 144 Hz, complete with flickering. I turned FreeSync off and then back on again in the AMD control panel and that fixed it, it's now back at 144 Hz.

Seems like a bug to me. Might have to go back to 17.4.4 yet again. :(

EDIT: Looks like I'm not the only one with this issue:

Gone back to 17.4.4, it's quite incredible how much better it is. Afterburner shows my GPU usage as a straight line at 100%, rather than a really squiggly line that hovers between 95 and 100% most of the time. CPU usage is also not as high either, and so far no weird flickering issues. The only downside is I can't use the latest version of AMF in OBS, but the previous version still works. No idea why newer drivers have so many issues with bugs and performance. Maybe I'll try upgrading again when 18.4.x is out? :D

@AMDMatt Does everything look fine here to you?

This is while in DayZ.

I'm not doubting you have an issue, but those don't really help. What would be useful is more reports, but so far it just seems to be you.

I've looked at the amd reporting form and can't see any trends there either.

I'll figure it out at some point or maybe the next patch fixes things, i've tried so many different configs on my system, disabling almost every program, pretty much every different setting in Radeon Settings.. different pagefile setups, i dont know anymore.. maybe its just Windows 10 being a git, some people say Win 10 and DayZ just dont get along, a fair few streamers have stayed on Win 7.

Tabbing out and back in again can fix it a lot of the time but it doesnt last long.

Oh well :(

Have you tried playing around with Hyperthreading? Limiting the game to 1-4 CPU threads? Disconnecting two of your other displays?

No, I just think that the 17.11.1 drivers are the best ones available at the moment for reference cards. IF you have a custom card use 17.11.4.

Fair enough, I just noticed this that was posted yesterday on Videocardz saying AMD have uploaded a new Adrenalin driver yesterday using the old beta numbering of 18.1.1 beta, I wondered why that had disappeared without a trace a week or so ago.

I think I'll give them a go this weekend so I can send any reports if needed.

EDIT:

Having read the know issues maybe I won't.

LOL your edit just came through as I was quoting your post!

Nah, If I was you, I would wait for a few revisions of the Adrenalin drivers before switching. You have a custom card don't you? So 17.11.4's are probably the best ones for you.

I won't be able to help out with testing anymore as I sold my Vega card on Monday to a miner and now have a 1080Ti.
