The AMD Driver Thread

Look is £450 TV. A very good bargain for what it is. The 55KS7000 (KS8000 in USA) cost me £750 back in Jan 2016, and the 55NU8000 £1100 two weeks ago.

Why you do not look at some forums using the TV how they might sort this issue?
Also does your TV has firmware updates? Both my Samsung ones have often updates that completely change the TV.
Eg May update added Freesync to the NU8000, while the April update gave HDR1000 to the KS7000 among other things.
never even considered checking for fimrware update and after seeing what i have i thought the HDR cheapness i have would be hardware not software? i will look into. its not as dangerous as bios updates i hope?

Asus as usual, :( Even when they flog reference cards with their sticker on it they crank the price up as well.

The Fury X was a good example, £650 for a £550 graphics card due to the Asus sticker, You could almost understand why if they stood out from the crowd like Zotac with a 5 year warranty or EVGA with exceptional consumer support but they don't.

Anyone had any probs gettting DOOM and Wolfie New Colo. into 3440x1440 ?

Both Vulkan games, and both just won't have it, as i change to 21:9 3440x1440 and hit apply, screen goes black to make the change, then couple of seconds later, rig just restarts, and i get the Windows has recovered from unexpected shutdown error jobbie.

Had a Google, and it seems im not alone, found a possible fix, right click the game.exe, and compatability tab, Override DPI Scaling setting, but i don't have a compatability tab

Tried Woflie New Col. again, this time going Window mode, instead of Full Screen, and that worked, so tried changing from there to Full, but got the same as above.

Going to try Borderless, seen as Windowed worked.

EDIT:

I found the compatability tab, it was the game.exe in the games folder, inside the SteamApps, but doesn't work either, game boots up in 3440x1440 window mode, but asks to set brightness again, when i do that and apply, says please wait saving profile, and thats it, just sits there, doesn't crash or owt, as i can still move mouse about, have to Task Manager kill it, so reversed the setting, but the game stays the same, so ive ****** it. :p :(

Tried DOOM in borderless 3440x1440 (as didn't try its DPI Setting in its compatability tab), but that does the same as Full Screen, goes black like its doing the change, then couple secs later, restarts, Windows Has Recovered Unexpected Shutdown job.

Have the opportunity to get a RX480 8Gb for not much money. Seller says it shows error 37 when viewing it in device manager. From the little I can find it seems like a driver issue. I wonder should I take a punt or is the card itself probably knackered.

They aren't trying to sell you RX480 then. They flashed the bios of some other card calling it RX480.
Code 37 is when the windows cannot find the device driver for the attached device. Which is a serious issue pointing to hardware problem

@LtMatt went to play WOT today and found a bug with the 18.7.1 drivers which clearly are not on 18.6.1.
Trees are missing their trunks. Some completely, others should be rendered but they are partially rendered.

Went back to 18.6.1. If you want screenshots of the same trees let me know. But their trunks are there.
The game settings are on maxed out on both occassions (i will post later a screenshot from the GTX1060 on the laptop to see the difference on the foliage on the above maps :D)

Also the Wattman ctrl+shft+O doesn't work on borderless window on this game, only exclusive fullscreen. (applies to both 18.6.1 & 18.7.1).

Update 18.6.1 same map same trees can clearly see the tree trunks.

Hi all,

My rig specs are in my sig...

Running the latest driver (18.7.1).

Recently purchased an Acer KG271B 27" FHD 240hz Freesync gaming monitor to pair with my RX 580 8GB and I am getting random black screen flickering mainly when playing games.

The problem seems to be MUCH worse over HDMI 2.0 than DP 1.2.

Originally I thought the monitor was at fault but hooked my mates GTX 970 up to it @ 240hz with zero issues and no flickering at all.

Tried all the usual removing OC's etc on my rig but issue still persists, also tried various sizes of high quality cables (both DP 1.2 and HDMI 2.0) but no difference.

My rig seems to be working OK with my AOC Q3279VWF 31.5" 75hz Freesync monitor without flickering when using either DP or HDMI on that...

I'm suspecting some sort of driver issue between the RX 580 and the Acer KG271B resulting in the random black screen flickering.

Anyone else experiencing similar issues or have any recommendations for me to try and resolve this? Or can any AMD reps possibly point me in the right direction?

Did you tried earlier drivers like 18.6.1? Do you use DDU before you install drivers?
Do you have same issues with the RX580 and your old monitor?
Do you have freesync ON? Have you tried it OFF?

What games you have issues with?

Is your DP cable 1.2 certified? (the ones coming with monitors most times are not).
Do you have this issue if you clock the screen at 120hz?

Hi Panos,

Apologies, I should have gone into detail with what I have tried...

-Yes I use DDU before installing new drivers. Not tried any earlier drivers just yet, ill try a few tonight thanks for the tip...
-I plugged my old monitor back up and did not experience any black screen flickering issues
-Issue still occurs whether Freesync is enabled or disabled.
-I only play PUBG and Fortnite and it happens in both of those games. When connected via HDMI it seems to even happen on desktop as well as gaming but DP seems to mainly black screen when gaming and not as frequently as HDMI 2.0.
-I have tried all sorts of cables, certified and non certified. I used the same cables to connect my mates PC up to my monitor @ 240hz and everything worked fine.
-Happens @ 120hz too (also tried 144hz)

I plugged my mates system which has a GTX 970. up to my monitor @ 240hz and did not experience any flickering over DP or HDMI using the same cables as I've been trying and everything seemed to work great.

This sorta irons out the monitor as being the problem? (unless its a freesync issue on the monitors part?)
Im guessing its either a driver or GPU issue.
Ill have a play around with other driver versions and see what happens...

If anyone else has any tips or advice please fire away...

Theres quite a few with different monitors getting Black screens, and also FreeSync flickering (Thread here :- https://community.amd.com/thread/220267), i thought it may have been some bizzare Win 10 issue, as those with problems, seem to be on that, but if you're on that, and your old monitor works fine, then i don't know, could be a driver issue.

Ive just replaced a BenQ XL2730Z FreeSync monitor (on Tuesday), which i had no problems at all with, with a BenQ EX3501R Widescreen FreeSync monitor, and am having no problems with that either (so far), but im on Win 7.

EDIT:

Im still on the first Adrenalin set of drivers too, the 17.12.1s, so you could always give those a try, as ive also read that AMD broke FreeSync on later ones.

Could also be a Monitor issue too, in which case a probable fix could be a Firmware upgrade.

I found that thread above, as i was going to get that Samsung CF791 at first, but once id found the BenQ, and already having a BenQ, so know what they're like, i decided to go for it instead.

What a mess that is and the hoops you need to jump through to sort out the issue on the Sammy CF91 monitor. Bloody pleased I never got one now to sit alongside my current. No issues what so ever on the Benq XL2730Z, yet others have had issues weirdly *touches wood*

XL2730Z was hit a miss as monitor. Got mine April 2015.
By November 2015 had to RMA it because it was flickering even on desktop or with the PS4 connected. Got it back fixed.
Then April 2016 RMA it again same issue, and got back the same monitor with new panel.
December 2016 RMA again, and this time got a brand new monitor back which I have since without issue.

And the problems occurred regardless if I had AMD or Nvidia card. Now the monitor is out of warranty (original purchase date to that ended April 2017), but if it dies, hopefully it will do after LG had released their new nanoIPS Freesync 2 HDR600 monitors. (end of August).

Download some other games like World of Tanks, World of Warships, War Thunder. All these are Free to Play.
Let us know how it goes.

As for your games, it seems there are issues regardless both with NV & AMD cards.

Main advice it to go fullscreen windowed mode

Looking to download some AMD drivers for a Fury X. Are there issues with the 18.7.1 drivers? Should I got with 18.5.1? (the other ones on the AMD download page)

With Fury X being older are the latest drivers still the best to go for or did it peak with older drivers?

Idk what other issues 18.7.1 have except the one described above in World of Tanks. Otherwise use the 18.6.1. Very very solid drivers.

@EdwardTobia any news from your issues?
