The AMD Driver Thread

If it was a problem with the stability of the undervolt then it would also black screen when applying one setting at a time and I'd have crashes in games. The fact that it only happens in Adrenalin when applying all 3 settings at the same time indicates a driver bug/glitch.
for what it's worth - there are contingencies for catching / preventing gfx core tunings from taking the system down when applied, but nothing can prevent failure if mclk / voltage is set to a value that the system doesn't like.

It's kind of strange: we've had these auto tuning buttons in adrenalin for some time. The Overclock VRAM button can cause an unavoidable system reset if the board doesn't like it

I don't use automatic tuning, I'm 100% certain the values were set to the exact values they were before the driver update (-40 voltage, 2660 VRAM, -15 power), and it also black screened when I tried it again on a clean install that I restored from a Macrium reflect image.

as i've said before, overclocks / custom tunings are not a guarantee between different driver versions.

Since applying the undervolt one setting at a time I've had no crashes with it, so there's no indication that anything changed with the undervolt stability in the new driver update, and as I mentioned before it's a conservative undervolt for my particular card as I can push it a lot further without any crashes in games. It appears to be a bug in the Adrenalin software when applying an undervolt for the first time after a driver update.

huh, that's weird. So you're able to sequentially set all three parameters and operate the system, but not all at once immediately after a package install?

Zero crashes in 1000+ hours of gaming, but a complete coincidence that it crashed the moment I hit apply because the undervolt was unstable? Yeah I doubt that.

If it's crashing within minutes then it's clearly not a conservative undervolt like mine and you likely lost the silicon lottery.
Literally the smallest value I could input :) and yes, silicon lottery is the whole point here but also the fact that it's never static, there are safety buffers most of the time in for a reason (this is what people use to undervolt or over clock) - to let it degrade over time and still work fine with stock settings. In my case they aren't large enough to bother at all, though.

Just took delivery of a 6700XT, what's the recommend drivers for this? Last AMD card I had was an R9 290.

According to Google's AI it's 25.4.1. Just seeing if there's any personal preferences.

Do a DDU and try 26.1.1 as thats what im using on my 6700xt, as i heard crashing issues with unreal 5 games on latest ones tho i think 26.3.1 might be ok tho. Not sure what the very latest is like tho but it doesnt say it stops unreal 5 games crashing.

The crashes returned after I removed and installed the different drivers. I then chose to take the back and sides off, remove my cable ext to the GPU and use the cables direct from PSU. Not sure if the cables were are fault or if I crammed them in too much, but since then, not had a crash. Three days ago I preformed this operation on my baby.

Those crazy bstars have only gone and done it!
And earlier than previously stated.

I’ll look forward to checking out FSR4.1, after updating to the latest driver, on my RDNA 3 GPU later.

I wonder how much of a performance hit there will be, and if it will be worth it?

I’d also be keen to try out AFMF 3 when that’s released.

Will be trying FSR 4.1 in CP77. My settings to get around 100 FPS are 1440p with FSR4 3.1 Quality, high textures and basic RT.

Update. Just tested with FSR 4, Quality, sharpening at 0.10, texture set to high and RT enabled but additions to RT are off. Getting about 8 FPS less with CPU usage going up a few percent. The quality of the image is much better than FSR 3 a d it feels smoother. Time to play!
