I've been testing Sniper Elite V3 more it seems it needs a lot of voltage to keep this game stable even at stock clocks. even with cf disabled it crashs to a blackscreen. when i put +100 on the voltage the game doesn't crash. tested both cards separate, and i get the same result.

I was playing it last night and had no issues. My card is at 1100 core and stock ram with stock voltage.

It bored me after a while though but no black screens or crashes.

Edit - I was playing Sniper Elite III if that's the same game ?

OK looks like I have fixed my CPU spiking. Abit like how humbug posted that video about tweaking network settings.

Only instead I went and port forward all the network pots for bf4 on my router. So far smooth gameplay again. I forgot about doing the port forwarding since changing router.

Got a link for that vid Shanks? Good work bug btw.

Unless the card is faulty, then a black screen almost always means you need more voltage either at 2d or 3d. That is my opinion have used and tweaked my 290's a hell of a lot.

how can it be faulty tho? it happens on both cards separately. i would understand if it only happens on 1 card then yes i would agree it's faulty.

i haven't had any issues with other games/benchmarks. so if i try rmaing them they'll just get sent back to me

Fair point and it's hard to say as it's not my system. Did you say it was fine with both cards on +100mv though?

OK its stopped the crazy CPU spiking, But frame rate on the new maps is still up and down, but not giving the stutter like before.

I find the new maps really demanding or just been tweaking am not sure.

Nice. I think ill leave that well alone though as it's running fine for me.

i have a feeling it could be the pcs+ fix bios. it fix's the 290x so it performs has it should but it puts more work on the card and maybe that why it's not fully stable at stock in somethings.

on the non fix bios i could easily oc to 1200/1500 but with the fix bios it can only oc to about 1100/1500 due to it's working harder..

problem is if i rma them they'll only test them on benchmarks.

i just tried 14.4 but still same... so far it's looking like they both not stable at stock.

but has i said before the problem is if i rma them they'll only test them on benchmarks, ect. not games.. so they won't see it unstable..

now i really don't know what to do.

Fancy doing something really radical? Try flashing my bios to your cards and go from there. You have nothing to lose, but possibly a lot to gain.

i think pcs+ are ref pcb's, asus DirectCU II OC are not ref pcb's

I bet it will still work. I've flashed a load of different bios to my 290's but ended up sticking with the stock bios. Search through the collection and pick one you're happy with. This is why you have two bios switches dude.

yeah i know.

so far i played for about 15min without crashing on power limit +10 thats even with the voltage set on 0

the reason why im thinking it's something to with the power is because when it blackscreen it seen to of turned the gpu off completely and the only way to to get it back working is to turn off the computer then back on, a reset doesn't being it back on.
