I have posted numerous times stating the problem but have never received a reply, AMDMATT said he was forwarding it to AMD for them to investigate but I am not sure what happened about it as it was a fair while ago now.

I used CF HD 7970s for some time with lots of different drivers and had no problems disabling CF.

Have you used DDU to get rid of old drivers when you change them.

My normal method of swapping drivers is,

control panel - uninstall
reboot
enter safe mode
use ddu
reboot
install new drivers

It is not just disabling CF it does not even have a CF option.
 
I'm on the latest beta drivers with crossfire 7970s and can disable/enable crossfire just fine, have been able to on all drivers to date.

There sure is. The Omega drivers are coming, which gives up to 20% performance gains in some games, VSR, which is AMD's version of DSR and Freesync monitor support. AMD are awesome!!!
