Its possible or even probable that you're going to hit a CPU bottleneck based on my results (even at stock my CPU should be bottlenecking). Whats confusing me is the fact your CPU isn't sitting above 90% usage, it should be getting really high.

Edit: memory speed and timings seem fine.

Here are the 3Dmark results,

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6504044

P13581

GFX score 17941

Physics 8913

Combined 7375.

Everything seems fine with that, I was expecting ~9K physics and ~18K graphics so its spot on in my eyes.

@chief barker,

Get two instances of gpu-z logging and check both your voltage readings when in game on stock clocks.

If one card has higher stock voltage than the other, synchronise gpu's in AB might be putting the higher voltage card onto matching the lower voltage.

Restart PC and don't run AB and try oc'ing the gpu's within CCC, they should both hit 1000/1375 no problem, while keeping normal voltage.

After you set the clocks within CCC, then you can run AB just for the readouts.

Try this too, I'm still not convinced its definitely a CPU issue.

While I'm getting ready for test, can you install open hwmonitor, reset max values then leave it running while you play about on Oman. Have afterburner and any other overclocking or monitoring software closed. Play around for a good 5-10 mins then exit and post up some screens of ohwm's load meters for cpu and gpus.

Set it at ultra too, I just want to see what everything is doing and to what level over what core/card.

I'll have to do that tomorrow, I am just about to leave for work.

To be honest I have been playing BF3 with just one card, all settings maxed out and it's really smooth, I haven't clocked the card either yet.

I'm still debating whether to sell one.

Try what frenzy said too^^^ It can't hurt to try!

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon runs very very smoothly on my CF setup, averaging around 90FPS, presume its the same engine as FC3 so why is FC3 so messed up in CF?

Same for me, even with lower settings its still a mess. Tbh I've just given up trying to play it.

Blood dragon on the other hand is fine!! I may try force the bd profile on fc3 and see what happens as surely they are the same engine?

Does ie9 have hardware acceleration or what ever its called? If so try disabling it, I know it can cause problems on other browsers.

As for the old games is it ok on older drivers? My first thought was new os vs old games.

Have a look if sapphire made a ghz version of your card and have a look in the tpu bios directory for a download, should boost your clocks :)

As for driver, 13.4 w/ cap is the safe choice though 13.5 has been fine for me :)

Metro Last Light added to PGTips! As stated in that post and as confirmed by AMD's own Thracks, flickering and graphical defects appear to be a game engine issue and may be visible on AMD and Nvidia hardware.

Unfortunately we have no way of modifying an AMD 7900 series vBIOS, RBE gave up on the bios scene after the 6000 series :(

Do you know if your graphics card is reference PCB? I'll have a hunt with the product code and see what I come up with, if its reference PCB you can use the vBIOS from any similar PCB based cards.

It looks like I would really need the part code (can't see it on the sapphire page).

Its either:

11197-01 ('OC' Custom PCB)
11197-03 (OC Dual-X - reference PCB)
11197-12 (this is vapour-X branded, Custom PCB)

Though looking at the spec page for your card it does say its a 'DUAL X' card so you may be in luck!!

It depends how well each bios works with the card as VRM's etc... can all change card to card!

This is the fastest stock 7970 on the market: http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/129500/his-hd7970-3072-120722.html with a 1180mhz boost clock.

Remember if you flash to the writeable bios switch and it doesn't work out, you can recover/restore the switch via the other position :)

Trail and error I suppose :p

Anything stopping you just having trixx or afterburner running in the background (start with windows) applying your clocks?

11197-11 is custom pcb, though that's not to say it doesn't use reference parts...

Do you have voltage control in msi afterburner? As afterburner will only support reference and msi vrms. If it does give you control its likely its using reference parts on a custom pcb (common with 3rd party coolers) & you should be safe enough to flash the bios from other reference based cards.
