*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

Ill be honest, i'm aiming at £1000 for an entry level 5080. But if AMD can knock out a decent price on a 9070xt and it performs that level than Ill probably swap to that. If AMD can provide a good case of diminishing returns. 40% more money for only 20% more performance on a 5080 would make me reconsider it and then i'd rather save money now and maybe upgrade to an X3D CPU sooner than later.
I still think they need to gimp Nvidia ever to slightly on AMD cpus certain if Nvidia made a cpu its the tactic they would use

Yeh, I weight it up and decided RT doesn't bother me in the slightest, I mainly play online games and nothing is of the level to make it better for online games yet, and half the ones I play don't even support it.

Any single player game ill just turn settings from Epic to High, the difference is virtually non existent for significantly better performance.

But yeh, defo can't wait for the reviews, ill probably auto-buy a 5080 if I can then return if for a 9070xt if i go that route, I suspect the reviews will be out after it launches, and I expect there to be shortages on Nvidia but AMD will be plentiful.

We will see though.
Raytracing is mehh in multiplayer not worth the effort

So rumours point to lower TDP 9070 XT MBA cards (and some cheaper AIBs) to be under or at £500. Performance about 7900 XT in raster and 4070Ti in RT

Higher end TDP models about RX 4080 (non super) in raster and RT. This may cost from £550 up to £600.

Note that all of the above is based on the most recent price and performance rumours. Here is a nice brief article that outlines those rumours.

Unless the performance is noticeably better than the above AMD simply don’t have the room to price higher what with Nvidia showing their hand. Frankly they can’t price any higher than the known 5070 prices because sheer Nvidia mindshare will instantly declare it a “fail”. AMD cannot repeat the absolute debacle of their crap 7900 XT and (to a lesser extent) XTX launch pricing.

It looks like the 9070 XT is aimed at release 7800 XT and 7900 GRE pricing of $479 - $549 and that bodes well IMHO if accurate. The 7800 XT and 7900 GRE helped redeem AMD a bit as they both had very good price/perf. So hopefully they follow that pricing model.

Now all we need to do is keep any loaded guns away from AMD. Just in case they decide to shoot themselves in both feet.

I dearly hope the rumours about full announcement on the 15th followed by review embargo 22rd and launch 23rd are true. Cos at this point it would suck pretty bad if this ended up drawing out till the end of q1. More than once we've had "it will launch in qX!" Only for it to literally to be the last day of the quarter.

I don’t t think that will happen. Rumours are review samples are already being sent out.

My own take on this is Nvidia never cut consumers slack on pricing EVER, unless the competition is strong. So the fact they are cutting their original 80 class and below prices, shows they know AMD have something that competes in pure performance. This clue alone is a far bigger indicator of relative performance than any other leaks. Nvidia NEVER drop prices unless there is a reason to.

So expect (really think hope) AMD to deliver a GPU that is as good as the 5070Ti for a lot less cost. The 5080 will then be only ~15% faster for a significant price increase. But Nvidia can easily use their sheer brand influence to allow this. But the 5070 and even the 5070Ti looks like they are there for the taking if AMD don’t do something stupid.

I live in hope

Yeah, I say expect but should say hope because all we have are rumours. AMD could think “let’s price this at $699” and **** it all up :D

I do think that regardless of how good they are the majority of people will hold off on getting one till at least the 5080 launches, and some till the 5070/ti. So they know exactly what the competition looks like. This could actually be a really good thing for stock levels, give them upto about 6 weeks to get stuff onto shelves in high quantities.

Not me though if priced and performance is there, I'm having one and will fight anyone who tries to stop me :P hype train goes choo-choo

Don't under estimate glowing reviews that contribute to sales of a GPU, if every review outlet love these they will make big sales. AMD just has to not screw up the price and put a downer on it.

Yep look how well Intel b580 sold out due to glowing reviews. The opposite is true as well, if your reviews are bad your sales will be too, if the card is overpriced the reviews will be negative. And for price, the simple rule is that reviewers want to see performance per dollar improvements, that's it - don't charge the same price per frame as last gen, you need to give more frames per dollar

If these were good value ( & similar to 5070Ti ) I would get one, but the fact AMD are hit and miss in AI apps puts me off, if I want to mess around with some programs but I can't because it doesn't work properly then it pretty much rules out these cards for me unless they've fixed the issues.

Latest hype train rumour:

Around an RTX4070TI Super/RTX4080 in Cyberpunk 2077 and Black Myth Wukong.

I mean...

If we can have a 9070XT at 4070ti Levels in RT, and 4080 levels in Rasta at around the $500 mark AMD could be onto a real winner, depending on the final reviews for both companies.

7900xtx is roughly equal to a 3080 in Cyberpunk (ray tracing), in most other games the 7900xtx is a good bit further ahead. Being equal to a 4070ti in that game is no small feat.
