*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

So we will see 9070 cards costing more than msrp XT, hopefully they will be fully unlocked for overclocking to get close to the the XT as its 220 watt power limit is really handicapping it.

Because it's the 7800xt replacement... The 7900xt was to compete with the 4080, and the 7900xtx was meant to compete with the 4090. AMD have stated multiple times they're not doing high end gpu's this time, so that rules out the 7900xt and 7900xtx replacement... In their launch event they even showed slide saying 85% of gamers purchased a card under $700, so that's their target audience this time round...they're trying to increase mkt share, and that's not by going high end. hopefully frees up production for more 9700xt's. Even though they've had time to build up inventory and are meant to be producing more compared to last gen, it may not be enough...Remember most buyer skip a generation before buying a new card, so they'll be coming from the 6000 series amd or 3000 series nvidia. This was also lockdown when demand went through the roof (not lack of supply..they actually increase supply at time, it was just demand was more than double)..that and the paper launch of nvidia means that not only are the catering for their own AMD upgraders, they may have to cater for a lot of nvidia buyers also, as they have nothing worthwile in this price bracket at the moment...now seeing as nvidia have 85% market share, even if 10% move to amd, that might double the demand...in which case you'll see amd run out of stock fairly quickly also. Gibbo saying he has a fair few thousand though, so not expecting a nvidia launch where it went from 'coming soon' to refresh and 'out of stock'Personally I think they'll see well..looking around at other platform threads, a fair few people waiting for the 9070xt now....all depends if they have msrp cards though..shove up at £800, and they'll sit on the shelf
I get what you're saying, but weren't the 7900 XT and 7900 XTX the 6900 XT and 6950 XT replacements? And they only had 16GB VRAM, so it's possible for AMD to make a gen on gen replacement with more VRAM.

nitro+ too expensive for the list?

prob going for saphire or gigabyte as they seem to have dual hdmi, which is what I need..suprising the asus tuf doesn't as the nvidia version do, but being tuf, they'd prob be horrendously expensive (unlike the 3000 launch where they were only a little more expensive i seem to remember...asus seem to have pushed it upmarket in price)
I don't know if it will be the same, but my Sapphire 7900XT Pulse has dual HSMI ports but I can't use them both to output 4k @ 120Hz. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be able to but I've read that HDMI shares bandwidth (I guess that's why there's often only 1) so it wouldn't completely surprise me. If you're running lower res and/or refresh it might be OK though. It might be fine, just thought I'd raise the point.

more power tool stopped support for RDNA3 as AMD locked the bios down.

No way to increase power limit on the 9070 non xt.

You can get the sapphire 7900XT on OCuk right now for £630 so don't think they can inflate the price too much....don't think the 9070 is as fast as a 7900 is it? (sorry, was only really interested in the 9070xt so didn't look too much at the 9070)

really..going to be outputting to a lgc4 42"..we use dual 43" 4k at work so probably get a 2nd as i like things symetrical..for work wont really matter, and gaming will only use one monitor so guessing that'll be ok..as long as i can use the other for non gaming, or twitch viewing(comes in handy when my son is playing and streaming...I can see where he is:) in the game)...and c4 only has hdmi input,no display port

edit

get what you're saying regarding the 6900xt to 7900xt...but 6900 and 7900 cpu were 529mm2 die size with 80 and 84CU..the 7800xt was 346mm with 60CU and the 9070XT is 357mm with 64CU...so the 9070 is much more aligned with the 7800xt than the 6900/7900xt series///bigger die also means more expensive to produce, which is counter to what AMD are trying to achieve

Yep. If I was going to spend anything close to £800 then I would have got the 4080Super or 7900XTX last year. I'm out if the cards push past £700. The good old 3080FE is running just fine in most games.
I think there will be msrp cards but ideally I want the nitro, hoping that would have been max £700-750 tbh.

The msrp cards should be no more than £600 max and the OC versions at around £670 max. Stock levels are supposed to be in the thousands so expecting msrp prices to hold. I really want an OC card with 3x8pin but who knows how high they price them.

I'm more than mildly miffed the MBA cards were either a render that either didn't physically exist, or was created in a small batch for internal purposes. Why show it in the slides then at the last minute say "oh btw, this card wont be on sale". Was an interesting looking design with the mesh. I'm guessing actually producing those in mass might well have taken them over the price point they wanted to hit. :(

MBA renders imo were the best designs! So much better aesthetically than the AIB designs we are seeing. Only the XFX Mag Air 9070XT is very mildly pleasing to the eye and that’s unlikely to be a msrp model

Damn, a Red Devil will be £800? Why go for that over a 5070Ti if prices settled back to msrp? It's sad that the mid tier cards are now far too expensive for most gamers.

Logic would say that if the 5070ti aib card went as low as msrp, the 9070xt also would go down relative,

Is there not a Special Edition Red Devil? That will probably be £800. The normal one may be nearer £700.

I'm all about the Pulse anyway. Or an ASRock.

That’s right. I think last time you got key caps mouse Matt and some other gubbings. Not cheap.

oooo errrr what's happened to this thread ... I initially called £800 for a top of the line 5070XT and was shouted down (well there was a lot of crying to be fair :D )

Have there been new pricing leaks ?
