*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

I got mine a year and a half ago now for £700 with a free game. Got £50 for the game so all in £650. No much different to todays pricing. There was nothing on the market at the time that could come close. The £700 price only lasted a day but was at £750 with the game loads back then so selling Starfield which the game was would have got you close to £700.
Yea, i know from people like yourself that certain models have gone on sale for short periods, even that i could've got one cheaper from the EU had i been more confident in my knowledge of importing things in a post Brexit world.

There were just other things to spend time/money on so buying a new GPU always ended up sitting on the back-burner. :)

Jensen, is that you?

Yea I had waited long enough to the point my Vega64 was screaming for retirement so jumped on the best deal I could see. I doubt price/performance on cards is going to get better so no more hanging around for me. If I need an upgrade I will just have to suck it up or quit pc gaming.

Oh dear. If this is true my 3080 12gb might have to carry on a while longer (or I remortgage).
I read the same article and found the title misleading. It starts by saying it is "worrying" but then when you read the article it goes on to say:

"That doesn’t mean the new GPU will necessarily be slower than the 6800 XT. In the tests for our Radeon RX 7800 XT review, we found the new GPU was still faster than the 6800 XT, despite having fewer compute units, thanks to the improvements made with the new RDNA 3 architecture, for example."

So if the same holds true for RDNA 4 then it is a pointless article.

Does indeed look underwhelming, an EOL 7900XT/XTX might be a better value buy but UE5 worries me as stalker 2 seems to have lumen on or some other form of ray tracing on permanently that drags performance down on AMD.

If this ends up being common on all UE5 games older generation AMD cards could become obsolete quicker.

Hopefully it's just a stalker thing and not an engine thing.

Have you tried using AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2 in the Adrenaline suite?

Isn’t this what’s we were expecting anyway? Hoping for 7900 XT like performance but with much improved RT and efficiency? Not really surprised by the leaks so far
It is a pretty badly worded article like I explained. Saying performance looks worrying but then saying ignore the numbers because improvements over the generations still makes it faster.

If they're citing the improvements of the 7800xt over the 6800xt as a guide, then that's still disappointing. TPU has the 7800xt as 5% faster than the 6800xt. If the 8800xt is only 5-10% faster than the 7800xt then as said, the pricing needs to be really aggressive as it will only appeal to people with cards from 3-4 generations back looking to upgrade otherwise.

It's a bit hard to stomach a card like the 3080 still being considered high end or upper mid-range at 4 years and potentially 2 generations old, but I suppose this is the world we live in.

I hope I'm wrong!

Naa, AMD will want to be below Ngreedia by 50 quid at most.. at that point I stick with my 3060Ti for a little longer lol
The only issue if you're buying in again, like me, is Nvidia have a habit of bringing in new "features" that the older cars can't run. Add in VRAM and it becomes even less clear cut. As you say if AMD pull the "Nvidia minus fifty quid trick", they'll be disappointed. Many will just suck up the NV tax and just chuck a 50 series on the card ;)

If it is 7900 XT performance with better RT it should be no more than £499 imo.

If they are serious about gaining market share should try and hit £399-£449 price point.

Knowing AMD it will be £599 and another fail though.

At 7900XT and better RT for £500 I think they'd sell like hot cakes in the current market. All depends if NV can bring out 4070Ti performance for a similar price...

Would sell well and review well i suppose. But won't gain them meaningful marketing share unless nvidia price their alternative at a much higher price point.

To gain meaningful marketshare and be disruptive they need to go to £399-449 imo.
