*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

Only place this will match a 4080 is in AMD's own slides, and we know how reliable they are ;)

I'd put money on it!

It doesn't matter what it is, the point is to a very loud number of people, and they number not insignificantly, it can never be good, or even just OK, only ever bad, some people have an extreme xenophobic reaction to GPU's, its crazy...

Sounds like it might be a decent card. Can't wait to see some reviews.

I love all the back and forth on what people think pricing should be. It'll be whatever it wants to be and you either buy it cause you like the product and it fits your needs, or you don't. Stop getting hung up on things you can't change.
 I'm with @humbug here, the lets bash AMD brigade are out in force atm. It must be a slow news day in the Nvidia threads so people are jumping across to give us their daily 2p and remind us as to why AMD is bad m'kay! Maybes GPU forum should be sub-sectioned off to AMD, Intel and Nvidia and you can only be subscribed to one. lol.

Yeah, Xenophobic reactions, this forum is nothing, we get a very very slight spill over from Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, tech jurno forums... where a lot of people look like they belong in a padded cell, it actually is insane, very toxic tribalism (for lol...GPU's!) which exists on the AMD side too but Nvidia's tribe dwarfs it not just in size but also levels of crazy.

Its not healthy, its the real reason we have no competition.

I upgraded from a 3080 to a 4080 and the majority of games can do native 4K and those that need DLSS can do so with quality (1440p). So if you run 1440p 4080 levels of raster and RT, it is doable at native. Though this assumes you are aiming for 60FPS minimums on a VRR monitor.

If that can be had for £500 - £550 it’s a decent but not amazing price/perf.

At this price/perf it would potentially mean close to 4090 performance for £900 - £1k. Hardly amazing there either but this is right where Nvidia and to a lesser extend AMD wanted us.

At this point all my excitement is waiting to see what joke prices Nvidia push for the 5090 and 5080, and even more on how AMD manage to score an own goal and shoot themselves in the foot while doing a full clown act all at the same time.

If AMD are thinking $500 to $600 they will probably come down in the middle of that, the RX 7800 XT was $500, that's $80 cheaper than the RX 6800 its replaced so if these guys want to talk about track record...

If they can keep the price down AND add hardware ray tracing, it could be great for mid range. If it’s just a repackaged 7000 series, it’s doa

We have one leak at 64 CU's 2.9Ghz - 3.2Ghz and now this leak with 56 CU's at 2.1Ghz, very different...

Probably because it's very likely ********.

So is the expectation that the RDNA5 will see a return to the enthusiast segment or are AMD fully done at that level?

Not with RDNA 4, as we understand it at this point around £550 give or take 10% will be the highest range, around RTX 4080 performance.

Other rumours are that the Ray Tracing performance will be 2X higher per RT core than RDNA 3, the PS5 Pro has the same RT tech from RDNA 4 and Sony have already claimed a 3X RT performance improvement, but that's also with about 30% more cores.

I'm on the 'if a game gets my interest' cycle currently. Had a 3080ti for a year and it spent 99% of its time rendering windows, so downgraded to a vega 64 last year. Still handles gta 5 at ok settings, surprisingly.

Not good game that, Windows, keeps respawning me when i least expect it and without first asking me if i want to save my progress. Literally does it right in the middle of a dungeon level.

Asmongold is the worst YouTuber to do this - every single video is 30-60mins long for a 5 min topic. And many tech tubers are learning and doing the same thing now

I watch a lot of his videos, too many, they are long but he's interesting and funny.

I watch Youtube like i used to watch TV, i haven't actually watched anything on Legacy TV for years, its all utter garbage or blatant propaganda. I have Smart Tube side loaded on an Amazon FireTV stick, its better than Youtubes on app and no adds...

You should watch Asmongold Clips, its a channel actually run by his editors, its short form and they often have their own take on his clips which is quite funny...

Take 7900xtx raster, add 4080 level of hardware RT and a hardware driven upscaler. Keep it in the $700 price range and AMD got themselves a good winner with rnda4. Trying to price creep their hardware alongside nvidia isn’t going to work so find your own swim lane. Upscaling and RT aren’t fads and need to be appropriately addressed.

Need's to be cheaper than that, $550.

My comment was on topic fyi as it addressed a mention about a game in relation to how it runs on the hardware and I was tagged to share that knowledge so yeah.

AMD do need to improve FSR with RDNA 4, it needs to be at the hardware level and frankly they shouldn't even wait for RDNA 4, RDNA 3 has a powerful AI engine, just like Nvidia.

But yeah, FSR is very much also a question about RDNA 4.

I think the problem amd had and still does have is that because of their position i.e. being last to the market and with an inferior solution many months/years later, they then have to release it in such a way so as to not get too much hate because they can then hide behind the "it's free (even though it never is free.....)", "anyone can use it" which gives them somewhat of a get out of jail card to play but as we have witnessed, this approach is no longer good enough and backfiring on them because of how far behind they are now and getting called out by their own users and tech press on the situation hence why they are now investing into their software department.

Not a bad thing, and i know you're not saying it is.... AMD do need to be called out on this stuff.... but keeping it real.

It will be interesting to see if someone on a 7900 XT or XTX see any RT improvements as worth it. When I bought the 7900 XT the 4070Ti and even 4070 were both joke prices for the raster performance you got. RT being 30% better meant nothing if they were also 15% slower in the majority of raster games.

AMD need to price this realistically against existing gen prices, not their joke 7900 joke MSRP release prices.

Yeah, $700.... just no.... AMD do periodically release a good product for a good price, the last one being the RX 5700 XT, $399 against $499 for the 2070.

They need to do that again, at 4080 raster with 4070 Ti RT it need to be $600 at most, good would be $550, great, awesome even would be $500, it needs to be around there because "oh but the 4080 is $1000" so $700 just wont cut it the 4080 and 4070 Ti are massively over priced.

Given how punishing some of the lastest RT titles are now and we are seeing path traced far more than expected (the momentum is only gaining drastically now and showing no signs of slowing down), 70ti RT perf that we have had for the past 4 years is not good enough going forward unless they price it <£500. RDNA top end GPU needs to be 4080 level at the very least but ideally 4090 level

It depends on price, if its priced to compete with a 5060 Ti that's at best no better in RT and worse in raster then its pretty good, but it needs to be the right price.

That may happen with RDNA5 but no chance with RDNA4, Being very optimistic we are looking at a 4080 competitor in raster and RT.

Too often... and not throwing around any accusations here, people hate how expensive Nvidia are getting, the high end GPU's are becoming unaffordable for them, they know the only way that will change is if AMD are wildly better and wildly cheaper, if they are anything short of that they get a lot of harsh criticism for not reaching those impossible standards.
But what they really want is for AMD to force Nvidia to make their GPU's cheaper, what they don't realise is AMD being held to these impossible standards is exactly what drives up Nvidia's prices.
