*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

Why are people surprised? It is obvious from the leaked specs.

7800 XT has 3840 CUs and this has 4096 CUs. It's gonna be slightly faster than the 7800 XT because of the shader increase and a very small IPC increase.

At least AMD are being smart and not callng it the 8800 XT.

With the 5700 XT they knew when they couldn't compete. With the 6800 XT and 6900 XT, they could.

They then fell into the trap of over naming the 7800 XT and 7900 XT(X).

The leaked prices at the lower end of the ranges, seem about right.

I’m going off experience as AMD have had many chances to get it right and failed every time hence why they’re down to single digit market share now.

If they failed every time they wouldn't have had 40+ % of the market at one point. For a lot of the time their market share was tanking they were on the verge of bankruptcy, then they made a misstep with rdna. Now they're going back to a unified setup things can change.

The Time Spy test revealed that the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT scored 22,894 points in graphics and was on par with the RX 7900 GRE but significantly slower than the RX 7900 XT.

This is expected

For months now it was rumoured to be a 80 series card and then suddenly we get told it's a 9070 - once I saw the new name I immediately downgraded my expectations, if AMD was going to call it a 70 series then that's because it has very mid range performance

I expect the 9070 will cost around $300 to $350

People are expecting too much from these cards. It all comes down to price. Let’s hope AMD don’t completely price themselves out of their already slim market share.

Well that's the thing, it's close to the 70 series from the outgoing generation. It'll be competing with the 5060ti.

I wonder how people are defining mid -range? I would say the 5070 would be mid range. If that comes out at 4070/ti performance levels then there would be pandemonium.

The price is important, but yeah I'm out if that's the top card.

I was hoping for 4080 performance for around £550/600. Looking at selling my 6700xt for a new next gen card but can't see it being AMD unless it's priced very competitively but I've got a feeling it's not going to be and they are going to really drop the ball this gen

Didn't AMD say they are targeting mid tier ? Yeah I don't think that's mid tier for next generation that's probably be up against the 5060ti

If it is like the initial bench doing the rounds I seen, around the performance of the GRE then it wont touch a 4080.

Im 4yrs into owning a 6800 and I cant see anything worth spending my money on that will give me a big enough jump to warrant the price.

Sadly this is looking the way. I am on a 3090 which puts a 5070 or better to get something substantial.

Amd hasn't said anything relating to these cards at all as far as I know. They generally don't comment on new cards until they're announced, same as nvidia.

Guessing 5070 probably will be close to that with 12gb £600+

Right no idea if it was official but it's been shouted about for a while they are targeting the mid tier and I don't consider that slight uplift from 7800xt mid tier for next generation
