Was getting me worried there for a minute guys. With the watercooled Vega I would not want it to be going much above 50C, whether it is overclocked or not. If it gets more than 50 it will only spin the fan on the heatsink up and become noisy again which is not what I want.

As far as I know the Fury X fan never had to ramp up rpm and get noisy even overclocked?
As I have a freesync monitor, it seems very likely I'll be pre-ordering the water Vega. I too was worried when I read that!

My fault, Sorry.

My guess is it will be well over 50c at 450w+ when overclocked. A lot for a 120mm to cool.

Still a huge improvement over the FE cooler though.

the only saving grace for vega RX is the binning rasterizer that's not working on the FE, it's suppose to save power draw and cut back on bandwidth, so let's wait and see although im not very hopefull, the gap is way too big...30% - 40% at least

I really don't get why many ppl say how hot Vega cards running.
It seems it pulls 400-450W, and they actually run copler than the 290x cards anno with more than 100W less power.
Bullzoid said with the big air cooler it run 55C, Gamersnexus with a slap on AIO mod 49C core, 65C VRM, the guy on reddit with just the stock blower fan ramped up a bit measured 75-80C with 1672MHz overclock.
These temp for me doesn't seem high at all for 450W power.

Vega is going to have to be something really special to stop me going Nvidia when it releases.

It's not just a GPU I'm buying. It'll be a monitor too. So I'll be stuck on the platform for a while.

If prices had settled down on the 1000 series I would have upgrade already probably to a 1070 at around £330.... but I waited and waited and got too close to Vega to risk it and now mining has pushed prices back up again.

Also an upgrade to Ryzen has me waiting on AMD to see what they can deliver with Vega.

Aren't these temps with the fan ramped up though?

EDIT: Though I've not seen any evidence of it running abnormally hot - just using a lot of power - even the first guy testing the temperatures weren't particularly unusual with a hefty overclock.

I ended up buying a 1080 last week to put in our second PC. Ideally I wanted to see what Vega was gonna be like but since I got my 1080 for £400 I don't think Vega is gonna come close in price.

It's a shame it's not looking like Vega will blow the competition away. I really like Amd but to bring a card a year after Nvidia and have its performance look to be similar is a bit disheartening.

Hopefully they surprise us all.
