I quite like the no fuss style.
Yeah brilliant design, shame AMD are lacking in that department.

Don't forget AMD have a driver cheat to override the levels of tessellation and games are supporting it more and more now, it's not necessary NVidia's fault that they render games how the games ask rather than at a reduced level to compensate for hardware deficiencies.

That's all personal taste really. I like both designs for different reasons to be honest.
Not really in to black plastic rectangle designs, I prefer sometimes that looks cool and is high quality for my £400.
was it today benchmarks could be released?
Have you ever heard of the Omega Drivers? If you have been gaming for a decade or more you will have but for reference they were modded Nvidia drivers available from 2004 to around 2008 which most gamers using Nvidia hardware ended up using because they fixed an intentional bug in the official drivers where very high quality texture filtering was changed to high, high was changed to medium, medium was changed to low , etc.it's not necessary NVidia's fault that they render games how the games ask rather than at a reduced level to compensate for hardware deficiencies.
So the plastic shroud that's on Pascal is "higher quality" than the Vega shroud? I don't see what you're getting at here with this other than your opinion is that the Nvidia design is nicer.
Overdone with angles all over the show? Then they'd just be accused of copying, this looks more understated and not trying to be flashy, which is why it looks good.
Metal shrould on ref 1070/1080
They'd never ever do such a thing, Zen cpu and platform numbering was completely coincidental.
One thing that does spring to mind regarding HBCC is the fact that both AMD and Nvidia implemented a shader cache in the drivers a few years ago.
Maybe this this is something similar from AMD but as a hardware solution.
