:p:D

yet it says 4k under "Render Resolution"

EDIT - Have a look at the setup yourself, they didn't run it in official run mode, which restricts the resolution to 1900x1060, so it actually ran in 4k.

I owe you an apology mate! I downloaded and ran the test to see how it works, and you're right. It looks like they ran the tests in 4K.

Here's what it shows for my 980Ti at 1900x1060; it clearly shows the render and display resolutions, and window ones are different

So now it looks like AMD might be sandboxing "standard" results.

The test also took like 30 minutes to run for me; and I didn't even run the full suite.

Interesting is that AMD never tested the rest either. I wonder what their performance there is.

OH MY OH MY! Officially launched at $999

https://videocardz.com/press-release/amd-launches-radeon-vega-frontier-edition-for-999

It has a gaming mode! Currently had a bug for switching between the two
When switching between Pro Mode and Gaming Mode, Timeout Detection and Recovery (TDRs) have been observed with multiple display configurations

Hmm, AMD looks to be pulling another Ryzen move. For the same reasons AMD CPUs need to be better and cheaper than Intel, AMD GPUs need to be better and cheaper than Nvidia. They need to get the mindshare and marketshare. I'm sure AMD are still making the necessary profit, so it's not a case of AMD being cheap, it's a case of Intel and Nvidia having been overcharging because the market will bear it.

I'm planning to pre-order as soon as I am able
Hope we get a rough idea of benchmarks etc before dispatch.

To make an informed (ish) decision whether to keep the order or not.
That way can beat the miners to the punch...hopefully.

Failing that - if I take delivery before reviews are up.
Keep it sealed to return within 14 days if reviews aren't up to scratch
Sound like a plan

But but but but...... the 1080ti is a bargain, you are getting titan performance for £650+!!!!!!

But yes +1 to that!

That is what I have always been expecting from the very start, a complete like for like with regards to ryzen, well I wasn't actually expecting the performance to be looking quite as good though.....

Got a link to the benchmark?

Yes, looks promising for the gaming cards that AMD have surpassed Nvidia fairly significantly. It's a new philosophy from AMD with regards to the type of product they make and how they pitch them into the market. It shouldn't surprise anyone that they are following the same ideas with Vega as they did with Ryzen when they are both battling with richer, incumbent competitors.
