A 1070 killer!.

I agree. But my conclusion is different.
Most people are not us. I've seen it 100 times.

Person A "What grafix card shud i buy??"
Person B "Buy a Nvidia 1"
Person A: "Why not AMD?"
Person B: "Becos AMD is ****, Nvidia is good"

Yeah, annoying that. Has been that way for over a decade. Even when AMD had the best performance card, people would say this. Only way to get away from this would be AMD having the best cards and prices for like 3-4 generations of cards imo.

Are they using DX12 or DX11 in BF1 because the 1070 score seems a bit low and from benchmarks it appears all DX12 does is massively hobble the 1070 and 1080 for no reason (ie no extra graphics or effects)....

Vega 56 looks good if those leaks are true, but how good, really depends on the API being used.

You would be surprised, due to the dumbing down of both software and hardware over the years there are many many hardcore gamers who have zero idea what spec their system is, all they know is stuff like "Intel/Nvidia = A brand, AMD/ATi = B brand, my PC > Xbox" and that's what they base their decisions on. Last month a mate of mine sent me a picture of a used Gigabyte G1 GTX1080 he had seen in the CEX window asking if he should buy it (for more than OCUK were selling it new) because "it's longer than my one and it's Nvidia", this guy is indicative of the average PC gamer in 2017.

All that money spent on those Unreal splash screens actually worked lol.

Pointing out one persons experience does not validate the point that "people don't know what they are doing"....

What is a fact though is that the dGPU market is rising, as is the amount of people asking for advice on forums.

I don't believe the "consumer not knowing what they're doing" is a valid excuse anymore for Nvidia's market share advantage. Probably was true 4/5 years ago but not now, everyone goes on internet before buying anything, people will look at cat/dog food reviews before purchasing the food (ok probably an exaggeration but wouldn't surprise me one bit).
Consumers make informed purchases now, they do research on the products they want to buy (of course while they are at work not working lol) and the more a product costs the more research they will do.
We don't give consumers enough credit, they are like everyone they know where to get info if they want it. The "uneducated" buyers don't buy really dGPU they buy supermarket PCs and aren't bothered about games.
Of course most of the people, who do buy dGPUs probably don't know as much as the people on this forum, because we are more passionate, but they sure as hell read what the knowledgeable people say.

But do you know what they will see when they google for their graphics card purchase? And they certainly do not make informed purchases, have you seen the rubbish you can buy online?

You are giving way too much credit to consumers. You type in PC graphics card and see what the top results are. None of the show AMD in the top 5 when you search that. pcgamer best gpu is all Nvidia so a lot of people will read that, know the brand and just google for Nvidia and find what fits their budget.

Further to that people who don't know end up at places like Maplin who overcharge and push certain products. For instance I went in there last week and they have full range of different branded Nvidia models. They only show 3 AMD models online and had none in store. That is the difference.

Seems like the card is going to be a dud, which is a bit unfortunate. If AMD's own slides don't even paint the card in a good light then I hate to see actual real world benchmark reviews... Matching two year old cards for around the same price is almost like they want to finally smack down nails into their own coffin.

Like myself and others have said, that person happens to be indicitive of the average PC gamer today. We (people who frequent forums like this and care about the technology they use) are sadly a dying breed.

I went in their Cheshire Oaks store for a browse while my car was being serviced last year and they still had two packs of 3.5" floppies on display for £9.99, I **** you not.

Haha epic. I am not at all surprised. Tbh though 3.5" floppy are expensive. 10 packs go fro £8-£16 depending on brand these days!!

...AMD people will use the Fine Wine argument... ...that Fine Wine didn't serve myself very well... ... even with the fine wine the 980ti... ... it ****** me off so I said **** this.

Just when I thought this thread had reached it's limit of lunacy... :)

3.5" is legacy system which can create a kind of premium effect. Check out what people charge for a VHS convert.
Remember the old AGP system, didnt these cards end up getting some weird prices and some could even profit from it even

Why would they still not allow reviews tho during these two weeks?

NDA The reviewers are reviewing and maybe even writing but not publishing until the starters gun is fired by AMD

Sounds right, people spend 10's of thousands on cars going on its colour scheme. CEX might be more just because its retail shop front, convenience though installing your own card to me doesnt match normal consumer convenience exactly

Maybe some people are just not that picky and obsessed to squeeze every penny out of their budget?
