The 3080s are the best bang for buck if you can find one. Best chance at getting one for RRP is the FE cards. You mention € so guessing not UK based. Join an FE Part alert Telegram/Discord/Twitter and be ready and setup with an account on the retailer for your region.

Well the thing is, if i am being constrained by the PSU here i might as well just upgrade both. My initial plan was to get a 3080 (non ti) for strictly 4k gaming and keep the PSU. The reasons for that is mainly the availability of GPUs in my country (Sweden) as the 3080s are very scarce and TIs are plentiful albeit at very inflated price. So the logic is that, if I have to pay €1800 for the TI, might as well get the 3090 and the PSU, as that should positively have a better resale value and age better. Feel free to point out the flaws in my logic, i'm open to suggestions.

P.S: then there is the undeniable temptation to simply wait and try to snag the 6900xt for MSRP, alternatively for around €1400 (from what i've seen). I'm not exactly bound by unbridled tribalism here, I just want to game at 4k but would rather avoid being robbed by the ludicrous pricing.

If you can wait... wait. Price appear to be dropping.
While the 3090 will probably hold better resale in the future, that alone is a poor reason to choose it over a 3080ti imo.
Both 3080ti and 3090 are terrible value for gaming. Especially the AIB prices. The 6900xt is also not great value. In ordinary times anyway... now, its looking pretty good.
The sweet spot is, and remains the 3080FE or 6800XT in terms of outright price/performance.

Ultimately though, its your money. So dont let others talk you round to there way of thinking if your happy to spend the cash.

I recently got the PS5 to occupy myself with but of course it holds no candle to PC gaming. You are right that the value is horrendous at the moment but there is not much choice if one aims to game at 4k. Damned if you do, damned if you don't sort of thing. The right choice might be to wait a couple of weeks and be on the lookout for deals. I might just do that! Cheers for your input once again!

A little update: managed to snipe the 3080 eagle OC for €1100. Will give it a whirl with my 650W PSU and monitor the spikes.

Managed to get hold of a 3080ti FE today, not the magical mythical 3080 Fe I would have liked but when comparing all the cards around £1000 it seemed like the best option. Should pair well with my new 3440x1440 monitor and I like the fact I have RT and DLSS not that any games use them that I play. Now just need to see how much I can sell my 2060s for to offset some of the cost

Managed to get myself a 3080Ti FE today, was so close to ordering HoF edition last night, so £350 saved and probably a bit better card in my NR200 ITX case, should allow me to mount bottom fans to bring more air into system

I just happily sold my RTX 3080 Eagle non-LHR (bought on launch day for RRP) for a ridiculous sum. I figure if a miner is going to make use of it, and is willing to spend that fortune, go for it. (I haven't mined since 2014, margins are just too slim nowadays).

I'm now considering a 3080 Ti (or possibly a 6900xt). Looking to spend ~£1400 (Dear Lord, help me... Never thought I'd entertain paying this much for a video game toy). Is my impression right that the current best card in that range is the Galaxy HOF? I haven't had a Galaxy since I had tri-SLI 480s years back so not sure how their warranty service is...

Let me put it this way, Buildzoid on YouTube who is a mad scientist that analyses PCB's/GPU's, Associated with GamerNexus, Really liked the 3090 HOF and the 3080 Ti HOF uses the exact same PCB, Components etc... and that man is very difficult to please.
