The Ampere RTX 3090 Owners Thread

If you don't mind me asking, how's the experience? I have been considering getting a quest 2 myself for PC VR. Is the artifacting too bad because of the link cable?
Its really good. You get a bit of blocking in very dark sceans but its not really noticeable in normal gameplay. I sold my rift s because my quest 2 is just better in almost every way.

Huh, wonder who thought that 10GB of vRAM on the 3080 was enough for 4K gaming. I fired up Horizon Zero Dawn yesterday to see how it would look at max settings and 4K, and my 3090 showed nearly 12GB usage. But boy, was it buttery smooth.

And what did you use to test this usage? Almost certainly what you are seeing is allocated memory not actual usage!

Tested my FE a bit more.

Stock Time Spy score at 19,560.

Stock Time Spy Stress Test frame rate stability at 97.5%, average boost 1770-1785 with temps stableat 70c, power at stock 350W. Fans stable at 63%, which is very much audable for me. voltage around 920-950mv.

Th is is defnitely a lower end bin chip. Sad times.

Stable undervolt at 862mv @ 1800, which draws about 300-320W of power, improvies stability to 99% in Time Spy stress test and brings fans to around 52% at stable. Gets a timespy score of 19,400.

The card does not overclock at all, breaking 20,000 timespy score, which seems to be average, even at 100% fan speed is impossible for me (without memory oc but god knows how to test for errors there as normal benches dont show error).

A bit annoyed that I lost the bin lottery on a £1,400 card.

Need to just manually increase the memory in increments, keep everything else the same and find the point where your score starts to dip thanks to the error correction kicking in.

Just received my Asus TUF 3090 today, delighted with it. Asus have knocked it out of the park with this card in terms of build quality. I managed to get a Ventus 3080 OC at launch, and was happy enough with it, but I’m running it in a media case (Grandia GD08), so would regularly run at 80 degrees even with an under volt, so could be a bit loud.
Installed the 3090 today (in quiet mode), and in the same gaming scenarios it is running in the high 60’s, and is virtually silent.

for anyone with a smaller case thinking these cards are overkill, they’re really not. I’ve got a significantly cooler and quieter card with the 3090 than I had with my original 2070 Super. Madness!

Aye, my 2070 Super would sit at 75 while gaming and was very noisy given the size of the card. My 3090FE is almost silent and the hottest I’ve seen it is 65 while at the tail end of a 4 hour Cyberpunk session.

I was questioning myself when I bought the card, given I’d bought it for the wrong reasons (getting sick of waiting for a 3080), but I’m delighted with it now

I am really impressed with the build quality so far. When CP drops down a chunk I will pick it up, hoping before xmas is over but not in a rush to buy too many new games as I have a habit of letting them fester in the library if I have too many in a short space of time.

I really wouldn’t worry about waiting on Cyberpunk, it’s in need of a lot of patches before it’s going to be enjoyed as it was intended
