The Ampere RTX 3090 Owners Thread

I have a 10900k which has higher TDW than your 9900k I will be watercooling with my 3090FE and i bought an 850w after doing some research, should be plenty i believe.

Edit: Come to think of it I have a power meter on my main line and my whole house is only drawing 800w when I was overclocking the 3090 last night.

Really happy with my Gigabyte Gaming OC. 40-50fps average with full ultra settings (2160p) in MSFS2020 flying over Rio. It looks stunning.

Quite a step up from my 780ti. :D

Just done time spy, this a fresh OS install and CPU OC'd to 5.1Ghz

With that said then, I'm gonna get the RM 1000 then, as I really don't want to risk it 'capping' so to speak and stressing the PSU too much. Plus, will be a very easy swap seeing as it's modular.

I can hide a GPU purchase but a new case that's bigger will arouse suspicion.

Yeah I do quite well on internals swapping them while she is out at work. Case changes she always notices though,

And monitors. First thing she spotted when i went from a 24" to a 27" and then again when I went to a 32". She was aware of the 48" step up as that is going in the new office :)

How do you guys not tell your wife stuff lol. I tell her everything and shes very understanding. She says its your money, you worked for it so you buy what you want to make you happy.

She actually gets seriously annoyed if i lie to her, breaks the trust in the relationship as she says.

My wife encouraged me lol, she saw me moping about watching Youtube vids for reviews and she just said 'buy it before I do for my PC'... I couldn't argue with that.

lol, my missus is the one to hit the checkout button in frustration, whilst I'm still pondering over all the brands, hours later.

LOL wish she was into pc's but shes alright with her ipad and youtube. Saves me money buying 2 rigs i suppose.

We just have one pool of earnings, always have. I never really understood keeping things seperate in a serious / long term relationship, I do of course in something developing or similar. So, we both pay, I guess.

I saw this while looking at PSU reviews a few days ago

The RM1000 didn't come out very good at all in this test ;)

Because if I spend £1,500 on a Gpu she gets mad. Same as I get mad if she spends £5000 on cushions.

Honestly I've seen people pull some **** on their partners. I mean fully rinsing the bank account and running off to another country after 20 years of marriage type ****. No matter how much trust I have I don't think I'd ever be comfortable having everything pooled. Especially not my record collection

Flashbacks to trailing after my ex up and down Oxford street buying hundreds of quids worth of clothes with MY money only for her to chew me out for spending 30 on myself because "you can't afford it"

Who is lying? If she asks or she spots it I tell her the truth. ;)

We both pay in roughly the same percentage of our earnings into a joint account (that way if one person works more hours/earns more it doesn't matter) - that acount is used for the mortgage and bills. Whatever is left is completely left for that person to spend how they wish. Most stress free system imo.

You see we have never been like that ever. maybe cause of the massive discrepancies between wages. We have a joint account and we both put a set amount in there each month that covers the mortgage, bills, food, holidays, restaurants, takeaways, home improvements etc. And then what each of us has left is out own money to do what we want with.

I spend mine on cars, watches and PC gear and she spends hers on horses and savings (to my embarrassment as she has huge amounts of savings compared to me)

I guess its very situational. In my case, we have 50% stake in our company, 50% in our home, earn the same.. etc etc.. lol, we even have a 2 kids and 2 dogs (50/50 :p) and if I want to splurge every now and then, I can.. and likewise. There's no.. well you bought x for £1500 so now I get to buy Y for the same. We just do what we do as a unit... and have for approx 30 years :)

Funny where the thread is heading though :D
Edit: and its the same in the "next gen ampere thread too" lmao.
