I need peoples advice here please :)

I'm really tempted to purchase the 13"MBP Base for Uni.

1) Will it last for 3 years (Or at least 2)

2) If I go to sell it will I make any money back?

3) Is it worth paying £850 (HE Discount) on a 13" Laptop?

Thanks :)

I've convinced my Dad that a MBP would be the most viable thing to do and it will last 3 years of Uni (Even more?) So shouldn't be a waste, and could be ordering the base 13" MBP in the next couple of days. No need to get iWork as I can get Microsoft Office 2011 (Mac) For around £40 (Student Discount) and there should be enough HDD space as I'm purchasing a portable one for Uni :D

I know it's stating the obvious, but the one thing to always remember with laptops is that if in 3-years time you're thinking it's a bit sluggish you can chuck in some more RAM and an SSD... but your processor you're stuck with for the life of the machine.
As such with laptops (well apart from my MacBook Air as they solder the RAM on it!) I always say get the best CPU you can afford and save some cash by getting the lowest RAM and HDD.

Thanks for the reply :)

I'll keep that in mind as what you've said is true.

A quick question for anyone, If I was to go to the Birmingham Apple Shop would I still get the same HE Discount in-store as I would online?

Thanks :)

Yep, got my HE Discounted MacBook Air in store :). All they asked me for was some sort of proof (could be a UCAS offer letter, Uni ID card, etc) and then they noted down the Uni's postcode from google.

Only Apple retail stores can do the discount though... not resellers.

Good times :D I haven't started Uni yet (Start in Sept) but I'll be able to nip up there after my B-day when I get enough money and should be able to pick up my 13" 2011 MBP :D So I should just bring my UCAS letter thingy which says I've got an offer?

Yeah that should be fine. No harm in popping in to check though, all the retail store staff I've ever met have been dead friendly!

Will do that :D

I'll probably bring some form of I.D as well just to prove who I am (Even though they might not need this?)

I don't like to double post but I would like it if someone could answer my question :D

(Again sorry about double post)

Me and my Dad ordered my MBP through HE over the phone (He ordered because you need to be 18+) They said it will be shipped yesterday and would be here today but I've just looked at my order status and it says "Not Yet Shipped" even though it says "Estimated Delivery: 28 Jun, 2011" I know it only says Estimated but am I missing something?

My dad claims they haven't sent him anything via email, so just wondering what's up if anyone knows or if they're just waiting for something?

Cheers :)

No they don't ask for anything if you order online :)

I graduated 3 years ago but still have access to my uni email address. Phoned up, said I was at said uni and got around £300 off an iMac. To prove I was at the uni I had to either scan and email my student ID card or send my web order reference number back to the sales assistant using my uni email address.

Oh and got £65 for the App store :)

Starting an Open University course in October. As soon as the paperwork is in place I'll be phoning Apple to order a 13" MBP to take advantage of the education pricing, £65 iTunes/app store card and the printer offer they have on now.

Don't forget you also get three years free warranty as well I understand when you buy on HEFE discount.
