meant to say I am surprised they extend it to OU...
It is still HE so don't see why you would not get the discount

1) Yes. For sure.
2) Current two year old ones are selling for £650 - 670.
3) I thought it was.
Yep . My MacBook Air (13", 2.13GHz, 4GB, 256GB) was considerably more!3) Is it worth paying £850 (HE Discount) on a 13" Laptop?
I've convinced my Dad that a MBP would be the most viable thing to do and it will last 3 years of Uni (Even more?) So shouldn't be a waste, and could be ordering the base 13" MBP in the next couple of days. No need to get iWork as I can get Microsoft Office 2011 (Mac) For around £40 (Student Discount) and there should be enough HDD space as I'm purchasing a portable one for Uni
I know it's stating the obvious, but the one thing to always remember with laptops is that if in 3-years time you're thinking it's a bit sluggish you can chuck in some more RAM and an SSD... but your processor you're stuck with for the life of the machine.
As such with laptops (well apart from my MacBook Air as they solder the RAM on it!) I always say get the best CPU you can afford and save some cash by getting the lowest RAM and HDD.
Thanks for the reply
I'll keep that in mind as what you've said is true.
A quick question for anyone, If I was to go to the Birmingham Apple Shop would I still get the same HE Discount in-store as I would online?
Thanks
Yep, got my HE Discounted MacBook Air in store . All they asked me for was some sort of proof (could be a UCAS offer letter, Uni ID card, etc) and then they noted down the Uni's postcode from google.
Only Apple retail stores can do the discount though... not resellers.
Good times I haven't started Uni yet (Start in Sept) but I'll be able to nip up there after my B-day when I get enough money and should be able to pick up my 13" 2011 MBP So I should just bring my UCAS letter thingy which says I've got an offer?
Yeah that should be fine. No harm in popping in to check though, all the retail store staff I've ever met have been dead friendly!
No they don't ask for anything if you order online
Starting an Open University course in October. As soon as the paperwork is in place I'll be phoning Apple to order a 13" MBP to take advantage of the education pricing, £65 iTunes/app store card and the printer offer they have on now.
I'm holding out for the new macbook airs before I get one, but Im unsure if ill be able to afford one before the back to school offer ends
