Can't see why people think so highly of Alex. He only seems to be able to charm and smile, fine in a one to one sales environment like the car task and wedding fair task but actually high business in the industry which SAS works in. I don't think he has anything to rely on.
Also, i did notice how yet again in the board room Alex was the first to bring up the doubts Lucinda was having and point fingers saying she didn't even want the job. He didn't point out that after she thought all day about it she decided that it was something the wanted. she already earned more than what was on offer and there is a difference between needing something and wanting. In this case, for Lee and Alex they need the job as its probably there only chance they are going to get, where Luccinda wanted the job for the challenge. In my eyes, Luccinda's motives were better than Alex and Lee.
Alex I would have got rid of weeks ago as he doesn't really do anything special just charm women.
As for the comment someone made earlier about SAS and his technology based company, you do know that he sold his controling interest in Amstrad and most of his money has came through real estate developments and investments. He earnt most of his money through cleaver financing deals and riding the property wave in The City. Most of his fortune is only on paper based on the value of the properties he owns.
Claire, although being bitchy, has done well. She talks a lot but the tissue marketing task I think SAS saw the winner. He will be wanting someone who can pitch ideas and present warmly in front of room fulls of investors. SAS doesn't come over very warm chatty, and confident when talking to city people in there language and wanting them to invest. Thats why Helene and Claire have lasted so long as he will need someone who knows how corporations work and can play the game with them.
Lee, good bloke at heart though he does have a problem with how he thinks people think about him. over inflating your CV, well he got caught out, and the defence he used when SAS asked was a decent one. When asked what should he should do, he replied along the lines of It got him through the door and an Interview, the false qualification how much does it really relate to the job, not i'm agreeing with it as a good tact, but a decent answer.
Helene's sob story I'm glad fell on deaf ears. I think after the farce of Michelle Dewsberry winning a couple of years ago based purly on a sob story (most 26 year olds can say that 10 years before they had a naff job on the supermarket tills / puching trollies / anything else of this low level in the service industry). It goes to show that even SAS is learning from this show.
Luccinda, like Ruth Badger a couple of years ago is probably better of for not having the job. She does well on her own and like i said earlier doesn't need the job to learn from, she is the most natural manager / leader i think in any of the series to date, and certaintly doesn't need to be in an overwatched and controlled apprentice role.
EDIT* Just becouse i might not have said enough. I thought based on previous series that the first few tasks and interview all take place in a couple of month space then when it gets down to normally the last 2, in this case 4, then they work in one of his businesses for two or three months whilst the BBC air the series. The final is always filmed in the last week after a long work placement so he actually finds out how well they actually are at working away form the camera. He makes his decision to hire based ont he 3 month work experience and the last task is always one based on how people judge something or enjoy something and not based only on profit. (The winner a couple of series back for the Tower Bridge Party didn't raise as much money for charity but had a better atmosphere SAS said).
