The Apprentice 2008

This was a great episode imo... the ginge and Jenny (boy would she get it) did deserve to go, but I really dislike Michael too, he's a complete prat. The whole little aside where he was talking (boasting?) about how arrogant he was just made me want to slap him I mean ffs... the scary thing is that he doesn't see anything wrong with it.

Claire is by no means the worst candidate there, she does get results, but by her own admission is a pitbull terrier... which is all well and good but sometimes the situation demands for a bit of poodle, a little softness and subtlety. She has proved time and time again that she has none either on a person level with her interaction with others, or on a business level such as this week with the horrendous bargaining at the marketplace being a good example. With her character attributes I would not trust her with my business affairs: I think she's a loose cannon. A bull in a china shop.

The other Northern girl whose name escapes me should definately go soon imo... the one who is continually horrible to Lucinda such as in the photo task. I think she is completely devoid of any decent or affable personality traits or charisma, and she is another who I would not want let loose in my business, I could see her rubbing a lot of people up the wrong way. Horrible woman.

Lucinda is a sleeper candidate... she has a completely different style to anyone else maybe barring Raith. She is the very element of poodle... unthreatening, softly spoken, yet seems to be able to get things done within her skill-set... it's stepping out of her comfort zones where she seems to have some real problems, but overall I think she is one of the stronger candidates, and will reach the later stages of the game.

Alex is another who while not the weakest candidate, has few redeeming qualities. He is a true whiner, who rather than just get on with a job as instructed without complaint, will duck and dive in an effort to get his own way or get out of the firing line. From what i've seen he behaves like a kid, throwing little tantrums when he doesn't get his own way, a real sulker.

Lee (think that's his name), the tall southerner, will go soon. I think while he has made no major ****-ups, he doesn't strike me as the sharpest tool in the box, and i've yet to see anything significant from him in this competition. I can't see him going through to the end in this.

Raef for me is the lead candidate for this job... the strongest all-rounder. Yes he can be a bit of a plonker, but he is also brimming with self-confidence, has a certain amount of charm, and has shown that he has a cool and unflappable head on his shoulders. I also like the way he is slow to point the finger at anyone and is quick to stick up for others under fire, such as when the Asian girl was getting grief after the boardroom last week. He seems like a nice guy with good business sense, and i'd be happy leaving him alone with clients. Any of his bad habits would soon be lost imo once he was up and running.

EDIT - Aaaaand breathe...

Agreed there..

I see Claire in a similar light to the Badger from a few series back, she's always in the boardroom but she always survives... Although she makes more silly mistakes than the Badger did, theres something about her which is telling me she may make it to the later stages of the game..

I'm not sure about Lee, I keep thinking he'll go a long way but he comes across as a bit too intense and a bit of a nutter, he also hasn't been tested much in the tasks or the boardroom, he reminds me a lot of Paul Tulip from 2 series ago, where he kept out of the boardroom and away from SAS's radar, but the moment he gets put on the spot he falls to pieces - we'll have to wait and see.

I think Raef could go all the way, but hes made some really foolish comments like when they tried to sell ice cream to someone who excluslvley makes their own Ice cream, and SAS made the sattelite box comment and Raef looked like an idiot.. I think he's maybe a little too smooth and helps cover his own ass by not winding anyone up..

I guess we'll have to wait and see

Everytime Lee spits "that's wha i'm talkin' abowt!' I want to smash the tv up. :(

Glad that ginger moose-faced bullying **** for brains joker lookalike jenny has gone - the gf actually whooped at that last night :p

Quite tempted to apply for the next series actually :D

Jenny Celery deserved to go, just a nasty person. Course I have egg on my face. I chose Jenny Celery as my tip to win and my mate chose Claire so when I go on MSN later I'm going to get it in the neck! :o

Interesting to see two go last night! I had that ginger bird (Jenny) sussed a long time ago. I initially thought it was Lucinda who was the instigator of all the pedantic arguments because that's the way the cameras showed it, but actually it was (ginger brickmouth) Jenny starting and continuing to argue for seemingly no reason. Good riddance.

I'm glad the two jens got the boot last night but there is still more chaff that needs to be separated from the wheat.

I hope that Saira, Lucinda and Raef make it to the final three, no-one else deserves to win IMO. Still not sure who I want the final winner to be. And I also think that Saira is the prettiest girl in the team including those who have been fired.

Raef is indeed cool. I liked how Michael and Lee were asking him what to wear and they got onto linen suits. :D Trust Raef to have a linen suit. :D

Haha, did you notice when Michael was like "I have a linen suit at home aswell.......".

Also some cracking lines in the show, Sugar suggesting pulling Michael's trousers down and Margarat saying how "maybe Edinburgh isn't what it used to be":D Classic.

I can't believe those ignorant ***** bought halal chicken instead of kosher chicken! How ****** ignorant would you have to be?

Cretins.

That was a fun episode last night. There was some superb face pulling going on in the boardroom and the less said about Kosher Islamic Chickens the better. From the outset Lee's team looked like the one to be in, especially with Raef taking care of business. What a guy! :D

Claire still needs to go, but I'm starting to hope she will survive to the interview stage, and then be utterly destroyed ala Paul in series 2.

Haha yeah. "I'm cool too". No you're not Michael. :p

Sugar is king of the one-liner and Margaret's quip was just priceless. :D

And breathe. :D

Michaels face was priceless too when he was boasting about the great discount he got on the cow hide. Then SAS piped up and said along the lines of 'well, team (whatever) managed to get it for £15!'
You could tell michael was thinking......doh!!!

really enjoyed this episode was suprisingly very onesided, and imo the winning sides members are the far less cocky ones in the apprentice compared to the losing sides members. Maybe because of that they worked well and wasnt too busy trying to cover their own backs or trying to look like they sold the most etc

I'm really starting to enjoy this series and could ramble for hours; however, I am going to bring you my character reviews in a better format- what business terminology refers to as 'super turbo mega bullet pointy speak':

Raef: Rated highly and rightly so.
Ginger Jen: Found-out & Booted.
Sara: Scared puppy.
Lucinda: Enigmatic.
Irish Jen: Well worthy of mineral deposits.
Lee: "Thass wart am talkin bowt!"
Helene: Bully. Pronounce your name properly- your not special.
Michael: Pathetic excuse for a businessman, immature, toff with small man syndrome.
Alex: Annoying & Conniving... but good at being such.
Claire: Unfortunately appears as competant and committed as she is annoying.
