The Apprentice Series 7

Alan could have saved an awful lot of time and effort if he just went on the Dragons Den if he was looking for an investment opportunity!
Thats all this panned out to be.

I am very pleased Tom won actually, I think Helen really let herself down with her business plan, if she had a decent plan I recon LS would have gone with her over Tom.
Jim's idea seemed a bit lame as well although I was never really sure what he was going to pull out as a busniess idea anyway.
I thaught Susan was going to win after all the business plans had been pulled to pieces by the execs though, I was quite supprised when she didnt even make it to the final 2.

who wants to take bets that some of the interview techniques are coming to somebodys interviews in the morning ?

Particularly the "tell me a joke" question and the technique of not letting people sit down and putting them on the spot.

Can't believe Susie didn't win. Tom's business plan was pretty weak and Helen's was completely awful (obviously hasn't heard of American Express Concierge service). Jim's idea was excellent, but Sugar is a money-grubbing **** so obviously wasn't going to fund a non-profit.

Or the many foreign "virtual assistant" services that you can use for peanuts.

Helen's idea sucked, glad AS didn't take into account her last ditch attempt to back track with the bakery idea.

Jim just talks complete rubbish..."but think of the children"

I think Susie and Tom's ideas were best but still not great - Susie would have been going up against massive companies with much more funding than herself and Tom - it's not like there aren't already expensive "back saving" chairs around that Tom seems to think he has miraculously invented.

Surely companies are just required to have staff do the VDU checklist drivel that seems common in the workplace, not spend hundreds or thousands getting external people in to work with their staff.

Still a nice guy won which is cool.

So the ideas of all of the final four were crap. Doesn't say much for the contestants.

Since they were all poor I would have hired Helen, as she was the most capable from a business management point of view. A niche bakery would have been interesting, though imo she should have been looking at turning it into the Yo Sushi of breakfast joints...i.e. a sit down place where you can charge £5 for a pastry and a coffee, rather than a typical bakers where you can charge £1 for an entire loaf of bread.

I'd have gone for Helen, too.

The business ideas weren't great but as AS stated, there is going to be a A LOT of tweaking, so Tom's current business plan will almost certainly be radically altered, before it gets green lit.

My gut feeling is that Tom won't finish this project and will abandon it before it actually gets off the ground, or very soon after the product/service is launched. I hope I'm wrong, though.

When you say radically altered...Tom's original plan has been ditched entirely from what Alan Sugar was saying last night.

By the way I'm sure it's been mentioned, but it was funny when Jim accidentally called Lord Sugar, 'Sugar' :D.

SAS shuold hire Helen to run the project in Tom's business. Her skill is clear, as an employee she is amazing. Using Tom's idea, hire Helen to help run it.

The problem with Helen was, she was exactly what she is, an employee.. She would make a great manager, a great organiser, but not an ideas person. When it came down to it, yes Tom's idea was a bit lame, but he's already proven that he can conceptualise, develop, and bring to market a product, and with the help of ole' grumpy, he could well develop into quite a powerhouse of innovation, especially with the possible link to Susan that was alluded to during the you're hired section. Helen wouldn't have brought that, her first idea was dreadful, and her second, half-baked.

We've come all this way and its just dragons den

You know, thats exactly what I was thinking.

And in the end Sugar wasn't interested in anything that any of them brought to the table. Sugar clearly knew there was a product line advancement on an already established item and was going that way anyway.

Shockingly poor business plans from all 4 of them, they were all really bad!

Yup, it all seemed pointless. The tasks became meaningless and it was all based on their business ideas - all of which were shockingly poor. Such an anti-climax in the end.

Agree fully, I was almost expecting AS to say it in the boardroom.
Tom's ideas and Helen's drive to complete would be a good combination
