The Apprentice

JO absolute nutter, but didnt deserve to be in the firing panel this week. Mani was partially to blame, but then so was Ansell, he specifically stressed the concierge element after the fact finding meeting. Definitely Ruth should have gone, she was forcing an arguement with Mani in the boardroom.

God Ruth just has to go. Sour faced, and unable to listen to what anyone else thinks in case it somehow diminishes her authority

Though was glad to see Mani go. Stab you in the back soon as look at you..and best presenter in THE WORLD???? What's that now? Think he had more to give though, might have shone, given chance.

LOL@ Sir Alans comment on 70's porn. Kinda what I was thinking myself..
"oh there's the concierge now....' - cue plinky plonky music....??? what were they thinking??

I agree with Beansprout - Mani desrved it. Ansell probably deserved to be in the frame too, and though I don't like her and can't see her lasting, this week at least Jo didn't deserve it.

Mani's sole saving grace seemed to be that he understood what the concierge service meant, and the others certainly didn't seem to. But despite that, he missed the relevance. I thought Ruth's team had by far the better advert and poster. It's a bit of a shame it was targetted at totally the wrong product, though.

It certainly can be argued that the Team Leader should have met the client. After all, nothing but NOTHING has more relevance than giving the client what he/she wants, and you have to understand what that is to achieve that. And that, after all, is where they went wrong.

But you can't hold the Team Leader responsible for every lack of competence in team members. Hold the Leader responsible for leadership decisions, but you have to assume that team members have basic competence, and totally missing the focus is basic incompetence.

Mani deserved to go IMHO because, based on earlier episodes he certainly isn't the "world class presenter" he says he is .... World Class Bullpoop Artist would be nearer the mark. Never have I seen such dire, even offensive, presentation techniques as he showed in the calendar task.

As I said last week, if this bunch are supposed to be the cream of the crop, it isn't a flattering reflection on the state of the crop. It's not easy to see so much as a single really strong contender. I had thought Ansell, but now I'm not so sure .... to say the least.

tbh in their situation in real life, you'd be able to speak to the client and say 'this is our angle, are you happy with it...' it's obviously harder when you're allowed to kind of work your own way out and then pursue it at 100mph without anyone saying 'hang on, you're on slightly the wrong track here'. Think ruth should have met them as the leader of the project.

Still, Ruth is just begging to go. Tbh, I don't like ANY of the women on this show, only Jo is showing some passion and she's a headjob. I think Paul is a good manager, and at least Sayid lay low this week which is always a bonus!

Hehe. Did anyone else notice the awkward emphasis on the word "now?" The sheer cheesyness of that ad had me in stitches for a good few minutes!

Though I have to hand it to Ruth's team, I thought their billboard ad was by far the best. It oozed professionalism, unlike the other team's rather ambiguous attempt :)

Half way through the show I realised who had the best advertising campaign, it was not one of the two teams, instead it was Alan sugar who had used the bbc to pimp one of his products. Got to say he did well to get all that advertising on the bbc - better than any billboard, or tv advert will ever be.

to me it was like Ruth took Jo in there to leave SAS no option but to sack her or Mani.

the root of the fail, Ansell, should have been in there as it was his emphasis on the direction the ad took.
then he appeared to disappear into the background (imo like he always does) and let Mani carry the blame because Mani was the only other that went to the inital session where they met SAS son.

There was no earthly reason for Jo to be in there at the end - she maybe a nut but was totally blameless for the fail this week.

absolutely...here's the concierge (insert thick northern accent: now). She was a terrible actress. It was so dynasty.

I've not read any of the previous posts about Episode 5 as i've not watched it yet. I will give it a look later on.

I have actually just watched The Apprentice USA Series 1 Episode 1 and it looks good so far. There seems to be a lot higher calibre of contestants including a woman who has actually worked in the White House.

The USA Series 1 also has some really, REALLY hot looking women in it unlike the British version.

Just watched episode 5 and had a feeling of deja vu! I've just watched almost the exact episode for s1 e3 (or may have been e2) of Apprentice USA.

I have to say the contestants on s1 of the USA version are a hell of a lot better than the ones in s2 of AUK. I'm even tempted not to bother watching the UK version from today onwards. There's just no one in there that is even the slightest bit talented or entertaining.

Paul's presentation was awful. He's an arrogant little scrote who needs bringing down a peg or two. His boast that he was going to win and that 'no one could touch him' had me in stitches!

As for Ruth. She has a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp. The sound of her arrogant, cocky voice really grates on me. The way she acted i the boardroom was nothing short of childish and she should've gone! Here's hoping it's next week instead.

Perhaps, but he cant say "Amstrad" - so many people are in the dark as to his primary business interest.

....

I have seen all 5 seasons of the US version and tbh it's all about Donald blowing his own 'trumpet' excuse the pun :p
Like many American shows it's also way over produced and seems very planned/fixed at times. For me the U.K version is far more 'REAL' with miles less product placement/plugging and ego shinning.
Although I am noticing that this second season is getting more like the yanks :(

BBC website won't let me watch EP5. It says I'm located outside the UK and streaming is limited to UK (I'm in the bloody UK!!)

Funny how I watched the first four OK

(To clarify: I can't watch any of them now, but could before.)

just as an offtopic:

my mum sees either the AMS1 rolls (chauffeur) or the bently conti (AMS himself) in epping forest, almost daily :p

apparently she only notices the rolls because its incredibly shiney :o need a pic tbh

Post Removed: LordSplodge was not thinking and offers his appologies for his very crap sense of humor.

How could I really know?
